Hemithea is a minuscule region, inhabited by a few solitary nations.
The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of Hemithea eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Nations in the region are considered developing democracies, with some political freedoms afforded to denizens. The economy of the region is remarkably unremarkable, with members being neither powerhouses nor basket cases. The median tax rate of the region is 40%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be weighted more towards the private sector, with on average only 49% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 5% of public expenditure.
In Hemithea, denizens are afforded a reasonable education, although funding is somewhat wanting. There is a very high level of crime within the region and law enforcement resources are stretched thin. Denizens have well-funded defense forces. Public transport is an afterthought, with only 2% of total government budgets in the region being devoted to it.
Governments in Hemithea communicate very well amongst themselves, with administration departments working smoothly, with 2% on average of government budgets being devoted to Administration. Some government provision is made for healthcare, but at an average of only 3% the provision for healthcare in the region is paltry. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Spirituality is a moderate priority of governments within the region, with-1% of government budgets being devoted to Spirituality.
Social inequality is a major problem within Hemithea, although some effort has been made to correct the problem. Natural environments are quite bad, although some measures have been undertaken to ensure that the environment is protected.
Overview
Hemithea is a geographical region and community of nations located around four continents and minor sub-continents. Climatically the region varies from the icy cold seas north of Feroxi through extensive maritime temperate zones where most of the nations are located through to the humid equatorial tropics, and thence on to temperate climates in the southern hemisphere seen in the United Realms of Libraria and Ausitoria (a nation which considers itself part of both Panessos and Hemithea).
