Sunkailia is a minuscule region, inhabited by a few solitary nations.
The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of Sunkailia eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. The economy of the region is remarkably unremarkable, with members being neither powerhouses nor basket cases. Denizens tend to pay their taxes quickly and quietly, with a median tax rate of 12%. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the private sector, with on average 23% of the economy comprising the public sector. Stoking commercial activity is a major priority for governments, accounting for an average of 10% of public expenditure.
In Sunkailia education, when conducted, is done with sticks and mud. There is a very high level of crime within the region and law enforcement resources are stretched thin. Defense is a major priority for governments within the region, with a large chunk of government budgets being devoted to it. Due to the lack of any Public transport, streets are packed with cars, bikes, and assorted noisy vehicles.
Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Sunkailia. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Some government provision is made for healthcare, but at an average of only 4% the provision for healthcare in the region is paltry. Welfare is a large part of government expenditure, with denizens amply provided for. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.
In Sunkailia, Social inequality is total, with wealth being held by a tiny fraction of the region's populace. The landscapes of the region are no longer recognizable as such, the atmosphere being unbreathable and the only jungles being made of concrete.
