The Galactic Union

The Galactic Union is a small region, sparsely populated by only 6 nations.

Throughout The Galactic Union, traditions are kept strictly throughout the region, punishing upstarts and rabble-rousers harshly. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. Economies in the region tend to be stronger than average. The median tax rate of the region is 34%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be weighted more towards the private sector, with on average only 46% of the economy comprising the public sector. Stoking commercial activity is a major priority for governments, accounting for an average of 9% of public expenditure.

The Galactic Union does not prioritize education in any meaningful way. Crime is low: the region enjoys well-equipped and well-funded police forces, coupled with efficient but fair judicial systems. Defense is a major priority for governments within the region, with a large chunk of government budgets being devoted to it. Due to the lack of any Public transport, streets are packed with cars, bikes, and assorted noisy vehicles.

The administration departments of The Galactic Union are all-consuming, soaking up budgets in aid of supporting a bureaucracy of millions, with an average of 12% of government budgets being devoted to Administration. Hospital patients are given credit checks upon passing through emergency rooms, as no government provision is made for healthcare in the region. Welfare is a large part of government expenditure, with denizens amply provided for. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.

Social inequality is rife amongst the nations within The Galactic Union. The landscapes of the region are no longer recognizable as such, the atmosphere being unbreathable and the only jungles being made of concrete.
