The Hierarchy is a minuscule region, inhabited by a sole nation.
The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of The Hierarchy eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Nations in the region are considered developing democracies, with some political freedoms afforded to denizens. Economies in the region tend to be stronger than average. Inhabitants of the region ultimately pay most of their earnings to the government, as the median tax rate is 83%, or more! The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the public sector, with on average only 37% of the economy comprising the private sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 4% of public expenditure.
The Hierarchy values education extremely highly, and denizens compete for the largest number of university degrees and sprawling book collections. The region's law enforcement is arguably too well-equipped and overzealous, arresting citizens who dare to commit the most minor of infractions. Defense is an overarching priority for governments within the region. One might suggest they are compensating for something.
