The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of The Pacific Northwest eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Nations in the region are considered developing democracies, with some political freedoms afforded to denizens. Underwater basket weaving is a popular tradition amongst the denizens of the region, as well as its primary economic export. Denizens tend to pay their taxes quickly and quietly, with a median tax rate of 12%. The economies of nations in the region tend to be weighted more towards the private sector, with on average only 49% of the economy comprising the public sector.
