Western Atlantic

Western Atlantic is a medium-sized region, with a thriving community of 12 nations and only 3 World Assembly Members.

In Western Atlantic, denizens enjoy their civil rights, although not too much, or too freely. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. Families in the region are so obsessed with the economy that the discussion of laffer curves and supply-side reforms over dinner is a regular occurrence in member nations. Denizens suffer under an enormous tax burden throughout the region, with a median tax rate of 55%, and much higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the private sector, with on average 31% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 5% of public expenditure.

Education is a priority for governments throughout Western Atlantic, with ample funding being provided and teachers enjoying a great deal of support. Crime is low: the region enjoys well-equipped and well-funded police forces, coupled with efficient but fair judicial systems. Defense is a major priority for governments within the region, with a large chunk of government budgets being devoted to it. Public transport is a popular mode of transport in the region, receiving on average of 3% of total government budgets.

Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Western Atlantic. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Governments generally endow their healthcare departments with a large amount of funding, with an average of 6% of government budgets across the region being devoted to healthcare. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.

Social inequality is rife amongst the nations within Western Atlantic. Natural environments are quite bad, although some measures have been undertaken to ensure that the environment is protected.
