Rudolf III von Kerlich

Rudolf, Duke von Kerlich (1853-1917) was the son of Duke Alfred V von Kerlich.

As the heir of the highest noble house in the realm (along with the House of Henslen), he was educated by the best tutors in Brasland, who travelled with the family as they moved from one to another of their residences across the country. He joined the Royal Army in 1870, and served there all his life.

In 1878 he married Princess Gabriele von Altenhaus. They had five children: Sylvia (born 1879), Alfred (born 1881), Alfons (born 1883), Maria Assunta (born 1886) and Friedrich (1887-1889). Gabriele died in 1902.

Rudolf remarried in 1906 to Princess Juliana von Hohenburg. They had two daughters: Amelia (born 1908) and Constanza (born 1910).

He died in 1917.
