Social Season in Diadochia

The Social Season in Diadochia is the part of the year when the majority of the Diadochian nobility and the upper classes are resident in the imperial capital of Atlantis to attend the social events of the season.

The Season in Atlantis

The start of the season in Atlantis coincides with the sitting of the Parliament of Diadochia and begins with the New Year's Reception at the Imperial Court and runs until August. The social season plays a very prominent role in Diadochian social and political life. The particpents of the social season include the nobility and all members of both Houses of Parliament.

According to both Katsibali's Guide to the Peerage and Gavril’s Guide to the Peerage & Landed Gentry the social season in Atlantis runs from January to early August

Arts

• The Apollon- eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts (June-July)
• Mousai Opera Festival- annual opera festival (February)
• Imperial Academy of Arts- Summer Exhibition of paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, achitectural designs and models and the arts of Diadochia (June, July, August)
• The Imperial Court Theatre- several Imperial Court perfomances (January until Ash Wednesday and Lent)
• The Imperial Diadochian Theatre- several performances throughout the year (January until Ash Wednesday and Lent)

Horticulture

• Flora Flower Show- annual flower show (June)

Culinary

• Atlantis Culinary Art Exhibition- annual showcase traditional Atlantean and Diadochian cuisine ( 5 January to 10 January)

Equestrianism

• Imperial Hippodrome Week- thoroughbred horse racing (10 May)
• Imperial Blachernae Horse Show- Annual horse show (May or June)
• Drosia Derby- thoroughbred horse racing
• Mangana Horse Trials- three-day event (May)
• Eleusis Gold Cup- Horse race

The Crown

• Court Ball- The start of the social season, Around 2000 guests are invited each year. (Late January)
• Ball at Court- The most socially exclusive event of the season

for no more than 700 guests who are personally invited. (Late January)

• Emperor's Official Birthday- official birthday of the Emperor (31 May)
• The Panagia Service- The higest order of chivalry in the Empire introduce new members (2 February)

Sport

• Tzykanisterion Polo Association- Polo/Tzykanion club
• Real Tennis Court
• Eleusis Imperial Regatta- Annual rowing event
• Neptune Week- longest-running regatta in Diadochia
• University Boat Race- annual rowing race between the Olympias University Boat Club and the Corinth University Boat Club

Fashion

• Atlantis Fashion Show- Clothing trade show held twice each year in February and October (February is the social season one)

Middle Season

The ball season and the celebrations of the Imperial Court end abruptly on Ash Wednesday. During Lent no dances are held, but concerts and soirees are permitted. At the start of Ash Wednesday a round of ecclesiastical feast days follow it. Because Diadochia is a very religious country these feast days constitute an important element of the social life in the Imperial capital of Atlantis.

End of the Season

• In summer most of the Diadochian nobility leave the capital for their country estates.

• Autumn and Winter are dominated by the hunting and shooting season, a favored past time of the nobility.

• Soon after Christmas life the Diadochian nobles take up residence in the capital once again and the round of social events begins anew.
