The Subrovanian Armed Forces is the military organisation responsible for the defense of Subrovania. It consists of four branches, the Subrovanian Army, the Royal Subrovanian Navy, which includes the Coast Guard, the Royal Subrovanian Air Force, and the Subrovania Home Guard, as well as several joint departments. The armed forces number 288,500 personnel, including civilian employees, and have a full-mobilization combat strength of 832,000.
The armed forces are subordinate to the Ministry of Defence, led by Sigbjørn Kjellberg. The commander-in-chief is King Hareld IV. His staff is located at Tkershus Fortress in Allev, while the Subrovania Joint Headquarters, responsible for commanding operations, is located in Soholas. The main naval base is Princess Margaret in Sunniva, the main army camps are in Allev, Saugstad and Krogstad, and the main air station is Nordahl.
An organised military was first assembled in Norway in the 9th century and was early focused around naval warfare. The army was created in 1278 as part of Subrovania-Crania, followed by two centuries of regular wars. The Cold War saw a large build-up of air stations and military bases, especially in Northern Subrovania. Since the 2000s, the military has transformed from a focus on defense from an invasion to a mobile force for international missions. Among Gordic NSTO members, the military budget is 78.2 billion SHD.
