Hazamaeia is a country of nearly 4,000,000 square kilometers of land. Cities and populated places are scattered across the country so transportation is one of the main issues. Ministry of Transportation and the transportation division of the Council of Professors and Experts are the main government institutions responsible of the transport matter in Hazamaeia.

Background and history

The difficulty in traveling between places in Hazamaeia is real. Historically, it is considered to be the cause of the Great War of All in medieval Hazamaeia with miscommunication between countries since diplomatic letters took a long time to be delivered. For daily purposes, people used many traditional forms of transport mainly horses and bull cart. Meanwhile on water, galleys and small boats were used. As time advances, caravels took their position as the main transportation means particularly in interdimensional trade with Earth after the discovery of Rumidia stone which helped people to travel between Hazamaeia's dimension (Nimtahe) and Earth.

Now transportation is among the main focus of the government. The need to transport a huge amount of agricultural products from rural villages to seaport cities is crucial as agriculture is the main source of Hazamaeian GDP. A major error in the system could cause a massive financial loss capable to make a province bankrupt almost instantly. To manage it, the government had launched a nationwide project of a contiguous rail and road network between major and large cities. It was also at the period when the AZZH (Hazamaeian Public Railways Company) and the first 200 NLs (Nigaraiy Lkidka/ national route) directory were established. Several major coastal cities were also improved to be able to host international seaports to maintain the exportation-importation of commodities, most notably the city of Arappun which in the past was only a coastal town, now the largest coastal city in northwestern Hazamaeia with more than 60,000 inhabitants.

Transportation in Hazamaeia can be categorized to four elements which are roads, railways, sea, and air. Roads are mainly covered with ashpalt in big cities but they are oftenly bare dirt in countryside. This relates with the strict regulation of private-owned motor vehicles in the country. People usually take public transportation like metro and trains, including when going to sell their agriculture products. The NL road network is a registry of intercities route in Hazamaeia. By 2013, only about 46% of the road listed had a proper pavement. Most common road vehicles are buses, trucks, and bicycles. As for the latter, Hazamaeians love bicycle. People use it in cities, rural areas, or even around a facility like airport or power plant. Rentals are common in big cities and are hugely used particularly by tourists. The capital city of Hasnuni has been mentioned several times by international media to be the equivalent of Amsterdam and Copenhagen in terms of cycling culture, in a double size.

Train is the main land transportation mean in Hazamaeia. Currently only 2 state/province capital which are not connected with rail to the capital (Iruvonomi in Gonostomaeia and Legapal in Sorannai). State-owned AZZH maintains a monopoly in the railways. The vast rail network offers a unique experience and even acts as a tourist attraction in the country, with its tracks crossing various beautiful landscape. It crosses big cities as well as rural towns, rice fields, uninhabited grasslands, and climbs steep slopes of mountains. It is also responsible in transporting tonnes of agriculture commodities from villages to cities and ports.

Sea transport is the most important international connection in Hazamaeia. Many cities lies on shore with their own ports although for exportation and travel, they are usually served only by major seaports. Hasnuni as the capital having the biggest seaport.

For air transport, only few location in Hazamaeia is served by an airport. By June 2014, only 7 international airport exist nationwide. The government already planned to build more though particularly in isolated islands such as in Gonostomaeia Province to cut travel time between islands. Again, a state-owned company is maintaining a monopoly of the domestic flights between airports in Hazamaeia (the Fatha Hazamaeian airline).

Issue

Technological deficiencies are by far the most common issue for transportation. Radio telecommunication is rare in Hazamaeia, most of stations in the rail network even still use cable telegraph to communicate with the central traffic control. The last major problem was in March when a rail switch error affected by the low technology level in southern regions also caused many train schedules to be changed or even cancelled, particularly routes emerging from the southern city of Vezelmeska.

Another issue is the lack of armada in railways, ferries, and aviation. This causes many schedules are not available in all location and all time. For example to travel from the eastern city of Ravesla to the western city of Alamanta by plane, you must first fly to another city (such as Hasnuni) whose flight only available once every 2 days. The problem is the same for railways. Train from Hasnuni (capital, northeast) to Vezelmeska (south) only available once every 4 days. The one to Arappun is even rarer at once per week. The last chaos accident in March delayed a Hasnuni-Vezelmeska schedule for 2 days.

Rumidia stone

Hazamaeia is located in the world of Nimtahe which is parallel with the Earth's southern Indian Ocean. The use of Rumidia stone is required to travel through the Mostona interdimensional portals in order to keep the time difference when entering and leaving the portal at about the same era since the portals are also intertemporal. Entering the portal without the stone is not advised as it cannot be predicted at what period of time you will arrive. Rumidia stone is actually not a stone but a metal alloy created with magnetic element, usually iron or copper, from Nimtahe and Earth.
