The Federal Republic of Joshenia is a fledgling, socially progressive nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. The hard-working, democratic population of 5 million Joshenians live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

The tiny, liberal, pro-business, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Healthcare, and Welfare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7.1%.

The thriving Joshenian economy, worth 293 billion Joshenian Pounds a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Gambling industry, with major contributions from Automobile Manufacturing, Soda Sales, and Retail. Average income is 58,665 Joshenian Pounds, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 207,657 per year while the poor average 11,966, a ratio of 17.4 to 1.

Joshenia comes from the name of the first man to have settled in Joshenia. His name was Joshen and is the father of all the tribes in present day Joshenia. The name Joshen is hebrew for "labour" however this is disputed amogst scholars and Joshenian Aryan Supremacist.

The standard way to refer to a citizen of Joshenia is as a "Joshenian or Joshenii."

[b] Ancient Joshenia [/b]

The earliest authenticated human remains in Joshenia date to about 30,000 years ago. Nearly contemporaneous Mesolithic rock art sites have been found in many parts of Joshenia, including at the Perezian rock shelters in Perez. Around 7000 BCE, one of the first known Neolithic settlements appeared in Perez. These gradually developed into the Joshenian Valley Civilization. Centred around cities such as Perez, Cush and Faberia, the civilization relied on various forms of subsistence, the civilisation engaged robustly in crafts production and wide-ranging trade. During the period 2000–500 BCE, in terms of culture, cities of Joshenia transitioned from the Chalcolithic to the Iron Age. Most historians and Aryan Supremicists believe that this period in time saw the mass migration of Aryan groups into the Joshenia. One of these groups had a young religous fanatic Joshen the son of Cartedor. According to The Order of Joshen sciptures and historical records, Joshen is said to have been spiritually inspired to move to Joshenia and start his own clan whilst on a hunting trip. On this hunting trip, Joshen is said to have been saved from a Lion attack by a cat that looked like a tiger. In gratitude Joshen bowed and soon after, the Cats is said to have spoken telephathically telling him to leave his father house and abandon his first born right to his brother Shem and travel east to the Land of Perez and start his own clan. In this 6 hour encounter, Joshen was given the knowledge of the scripture that was to be used by the Order of Joshen. A diary entry by Shem explains the Joshen incident as being set up by Shem and his friends so that Shem would inherit his fathers wealth.[IMG][/IMG] Joshen arrived in the busy Perezian city their he settled down and begun preaching about how sacred the cat was, at first people laughed at him,however an Eygptian lady Panem gave him two rare cat that had been breed to look like tigers. This changed his ministry and soon he was appointed Prime Minister of Perez by the King who was called Mehi. Joshen got married a merchants daugher, her name was Ingrid. Ingrid is said to have been very beautiful with blond hair and blue eyes. With Ingrid Joshen had ten sons in the following order ; Perezia (named after the city), Cush, Faber,Shem,Cartedor,Fritz,Panama, Pathagori, Castell, Gordon. Perez became King of Perez , Faber became King of Faberia and Cush became Chief of Cushia. The rest of the boys when own to battle out other villages and towns creating their own cities whilst spreading the religion of the Order of Joshen which encouraged the breeding of the Tiger Cat. By 255 BCE Joshen had all the modern States, but at this period they were Independent City States.

[b] Medieval Joshenia [/b]

Medieval Joshenia, 800AD to 1500AD, was known as a dark time in Joshenian history. The City States could not agree with each other and frequently fought wars over borders and resources, these wars were very bloody. This was made possible with the creation of siege weapons, and gun powder which enabled attacking forces to breach city walls or castle walls. In 1340 the black death affected the Joshenian City States badly, about 76% of the population died. This meant that the labour and work force was reduced and the nations had to work together, in 1350 all ten Kings of the City States met however due to pride and grudges due to the wars before the plague the Conference broke down in Faberia. Soon after, Catholic Germans attacked Joshenian City States blaming them for the plague as they were pagan. Perezia, Faberia,Cartedoria, Panama and Castellia united their forces under one banner and called it the "die Einheitsfront". [IMG][/IMG] [b][i][u]die Einheitsfront Banner[/u][/i][/b]

The "die Einheitsfront" pushed away the invaders and signed treaties with some German princes to stop the invasions, this soon lead to the conversion of the member City States to convert to Luthernism in 1555. The "die  Einheitsfront" actually attended the Peace of Augsburg conference were Luthernism was established as an acceptable alternative to Catholicism.Churches soon sprang up in the "die Einheitsfront" region with the famous one being the Erretung or Salvation in Cartedoria.

It was a time of peace and this allowed the start of paid labour, improvements in art, engineering, agriculture, and other cultural advancements. In 1605 "die Einheistsfront" become a Princedom under the royal house of Perezia, the first Prince being Geoffrey IV. The Princedom survived from 1605 untill 1848 when all 10 City States United and become the Federal Republic of Joshenia.

[b] Early Modern Joshenia [/b]

With the creation of a Princedom the other five nations felt left out and under threat so after extensive discussions in 1616, the Pathagorian Royal House under King Michael VII founded the Heimat Union or Motherland union. [IMG][/IMG] [u][i][b]The Heimat Union Coat of Arms of 1616[/b][/i][/u]

This Union perfected a banking system to fund explorations around the world and the building of new technologies such as the printing press, faster and strong ships. Several exploration organisations were created under the Union such as the Heimat Union Exploaration Company which explored around the word trading with other nations in gold, silver, spices and rare cloths. In this point in history art work and fashion were a big thing. Heimatian cloths were very valuable goods and sold a lot abroad this strenghtened the Union. In 1655 the Heimat union or Heimatia now was a Kingdom, the next year it became Catholic. This greatly angered the die Einheitsfront Union and soon a war begun, the war was a bloody one and it took a toll on both regions. The war lasted from 1655 to 1705, when die Einheitsfront disbundled, a treaty was signed and the losing City States had to pay reparations of £10 million each to Heimatia.

[b] Modern Joshenia [/b]

In 1799 Heimatia joined in the Napoleonic wars which lasted untill 1815 by this point in time the Pathagorian Royal house was bankrupt as well as the government moreover the Congress of Vienna had weakened the Heimatian Navy as Great Britain saw the kingdom as a threat. Revolts in the Cities of Heimatia soon followed with citizens blocking roads and burning government and Army Barracks. University Students took to the streets asking for a republic the same way the French had done. The Heimatian Secret Police quickly arrested and persecuted the leaders of the revolts.With no leaders and fear of retribution Heimatian citizens stopped revolting, anyone whole talked about revolts would dissappear in the night. The standards of living in Heimatian towns dropped espeacially with the start of the Industrial revolution in the 1820s which saw many villager leave their farms to come to the cities to work in factories which had poor pay and bad living conditions. The farmers in the villages could not meet the quotas in the towns. Soon the Secret police begun going into the villages and grabbing the food by force, villagers begun burning their crops what happened after was a bad femine which hit Heimatia killing 10 million people. The water system in the cities also became contaminated leading Heimatia to ask for help from the other 5 cities of Joshenia. Since the other city States were facing problems too in 1835 Heimatia and the other cities united together apart from Faberia and Castellia to form the United Heimatian Kingdom under King Michael X of Pathagoria. However, with new mouths to feed and bad governance from King MichaelX the situation worsened as people starved in the streets the Secret Police called the Black Bullet continued to persecute anyone speaking against the king, about 35 million people died decreasing the population greatly to 1million in all of Heimatia. On December 25, 1847 Heimatian citizen from all over marched on the Pathagorian State and a battle was fought between loyalists and Royalists on 23rd March, 1848 the kings palace was broken into and the King and his family killed in the fighting. The next day his successor John abdicatted the thrown of Heimatia and proposed a Republic, Fabria and Castellia were invited to the Perezian conference were the terms of the Union between all the States were discussed. The conference came to terms that the City States had grown enough to be States but due to the death of many citizens and social problems a Union was neccessary. On 14th June 1848, the Federal Republic of Joshenia was born with a constitution that took away almost all the powers of the State Royal families and gave the power to State governments. The first President was former Professor of History at University of Shemia Professor Jack Bhawa. In Jack Bhawas 6 terms as President , the economy and civil liberties increased. Due to not taking part in the two world wars due to being a neutral country according to the 1815 Vienna Congress, Joshenia found itself with a strong military and economy making it one of the nations in our multipolar world fighting for peace today. However, Joshenia also has hot regions with access to a lake that can also be great for tourists who would love to swim in Lake Joshenia during summer months as it is frozen most of the year, furthermore it also gives fresh tilapia fish a Joshenian delicacy. Joshenia is a Federal presidential constitutional republic. The Joshenian political system operates under a framework laid out in the 1848 constitutional document known as the "Rule of Rule of Law" . Amendments require a two-thirds majority of both chambers of Parliament ; the fundamental principles of the constitution, as expressed in the articles guaranteeing human dignity, the separation of powers, the federal structure, and the rule of law are valid in perpetuity. The president and Vice President are elected together every five years. A second vice president may be appointed by the president if so chosen, although they must be from a different party. The members of the cabinet are appointed by the president and can be from either inside or outside of the legislature. Since 1949, the Party System has been dominated by the Joshenian Libertarian Union and the Joshenian Anarchy Society. Joshenia's millitary is organised into, [i]Joshenia Defence Force (Army and Speacial Forces), Joshenian Aquatic Forces(Navy), The Eagles ( Joshenian AirForce), Forces in White(Medical Service),Joshenia Joint Support Service[/i] The Joshenian government spends about roughly £5 billion on its millitary, thats about 21.4% of the Governement Annual Budget. As of 2017 the Joshenia Defence Force employed roughly 78,000 service members, including about 18,000 volunteers. Reservists are available to the Armed Forces and participate in defence exercises and deployments abroad. Since 2006 women may serve in all functions of service without restriction. About 19,000 female soldiers are on active duty. In peace time, the Joshenia Defence Force is commanded by the Minister of Defence. In state of war , the President becomes the Commander In Chief after a vote in the Oberes Haus. The role of the JDF is described in the constitution of Joshenia as defensive only. This however includes crisis reaction and conflict prevention any where in the World if it means protecting Joshenia.
