The Confederacy of Onaquahada (ah-nah-QUAH-HA-dah) is a confederation of native tribes, granted the land of Oklahoma in 1830 by US president Andrew Jackson, in exchange for a peace treaty. Onaquahada is made up of several hundred tribal groups, the largest being Cherokee, Creek, Onondaga, Sioux, and Comanche. Each native group has a chief, who all consult each other when forming laws. Onaquahada is officially protected by the United States military.
