Vekaiyun Armed Forces

The armed forces of Vekaiyu have gained a reputation of being very formidable in The East Pacific. The Vekaiyun armed forces have a long history of impressive victories and well-fought campaigns. Today they exist as a powerful force that is both capable of strong offense and defense.

Command

Command of the Vekaiyun armed forces are distributed in two theaters: offense and defense. In control of Vekaiyu's offensive maneuvers is the Kral Commodore, while defense is controlled by the Ler Commodore. Below them are the heads of ground, sea, and air force branches. Various other officers are located below them, making for an efficient and highly organized system.

Ground Forces

With innovations in their vehicles and tactics, Vekaiyu remains one of the most advanced ground forces in the realm. Providing the muscle of the ground forces are impressive tanks, led by the new TU-155 Isonesu Class Tank and the more advanced TU-165 Yiviso Class Tank. The TU-128 Buresk Class Tank has been phased out and updated with the TU-135 Sulaki Class Tank. The Sulaki Class Tank in particular is among the most well-balanced tanks in the arsenal. It provides the bulk of the tank armory within the nation, and has proven itself effective in battle. Efficient, fast, maneuverable, and easily repaired, the tank has enjoyed much success in combat, but is losing popularity to recently-produced tanks. The TU-104 Sulessi Class Tank, once famous for its ground campaigns, is regarded as obsolete, especially after its dismal performance in the 2010 Vekaiyun Civil War, though a number of external reasons could be responsible for its lackluster performance. Attempts at modernizing it into a formidable lightweight battle tank has been cancelled due to the development of the Isonesu Class Tank. All Vekaiyun tanks are pressurized, protecting the crew inside from NBC agents. This is, of course, crucial for ground campaigns. Both the Buresk and Sulessi class tanks have found use in other nations' armories.

The VL-100 Light Tank remains a Vekaiyun project tank and it is rumored that the tank's main gun is capable of firing a laser that can penetrate armor. Such power, however, has never been confirmed.

Along with tanks, Vekaiyu holds multiple classes of Katyusha Rockets. Typically mounted on the backs of trucks, these launchers can let loose dozens of rockets within one minute's time. While these rockets are not to be desired for their lack of accuracy, they are instrumental in taking out throngs of troops or clearing large areas of the battlefield, destroying everything in their path. Often, the erie sound these rockets produce during launch and the prospect of their payloads including biological agents have earned the weapon the title of 'The Organ from Hell' by some neighboring nations. Consequently, they make for an effective psychological weapon as well.

Vekaiyu has an adequate arsenal of mobile and static antiaircraft guns, SAM sites, and mobile missile launchers. Such mobile models include the Iseli, Hudek, Kavulik, Nikuuli, and the Uviri class missile launchers. Many immobile guns and SAM sites are located around the Vekaiyun border. Under normal operating conditions, these weapons can be fired within a moment's time and have a range of two four hundred-fifty miles and may be computer guided. The mobile missile sites and antiaircraft weapons vary by model.

It should be noted that Vekaiyu divides its ground force divisions into two classes: infantry and armored corp. The simplistic classifications may be misleading: the infantry division is sufficiently protected by Vekaiyun tanks and other important vehicles, but the armored corp divisions have a much higher concentration of tanks, missile launchers, and other vehicles.

Chemical Warfare

Vekaiyun ground forces are heavily reliant on chemical warfare to assert their dominance on the battlefield. Agents such as sarin, ricin, VX, Novichok, and other organophosphates are currently stored in Vekaiyu. While it is known with a certain degree of truth the nation no longer produces such chemicals, under Max Venavle's reign such agents were heavily produced. Known

The potential for chemical warfare remains a very real threat in the realm, but measures have been made to deescalate. Under the Treaty of Kusale (1992), Vekaiyu agreed to refrain from using organophosphates in chemical warfare unless the nation was actively under attack. Since 2000, the nation has begun slowly decreasing its chemical stockpiles, attempting to create more friendly relations with neighboring nations. In 2009, Vekaiyu sold chemical and nuclear weapons to neighboring Listonia.

Despite the motion to slowly decrease their stockpiles, Vekaiyu still uses non-organophosphate chemicals during combat, though such agents are much less deadly. In 2006, the common Vekaiyun soldier was issued uniforms to protect against such attacks. Initially this protection was only offered to officers in Vekaiyu's ground forces.

Nuclear warheads exist in Vekaiyu. Like many chemical weapons, these warheads are capable of being mounted on the back of a Uviri Class Missile Launcher. While Vekaiyu has never launched a nuclear weapon, military parades during Venavle's rule showed Uviri class launchers with "dud" nuclear warheads, sighting they are quite capable of launch. Like their chemical program, Vekaiyu has taken serious measures to disarm at least a portion of their arsenal. It is unclear as to how many nuclear warheads the nation owns.

Sea Forces

Vekaiyu enjoys an adequate navy that has its strength resting in its various submarine classes. Multiple classes of submarines exist, many of which are nuclear-powered, though a few fusion-powered subs have been launched. Such ships are the pride of the Vekaiyun Navy, and are known for their rapid speed and maneuverability. Vekaiyun submarines often sail in "packs" 5-9 abreast, and are well trained in tactics that allow for the ships to move fast. Past skirmishes have shown that often when ships are hit by submarine torpedoes, the submarines are already out of range.

The Vekaiyun Navy is led by two Vaseriv Class aircraft carriers and three Sukavrir Class aircraft carriers. Many Vekaiyun destroyers are of the Siknavov Class and Piskiri Class, while frigates are mostly comprised of the Lekenavi Class types. The Kubasri Class supply ships keep fleets in check. Submarines consist mainly of the formidable Iskalov Class and the ballistic missile Ewov Class.

Fleets

Vekaiyu currently sails three fleets: one home fleet and three roaming fleets. Details of such fleets are shown below:

Home FleetRoaming Fleet:
  • Two Vaseriv Class aircraft carriers
  • One Princeton Cruiser (purchased from British Grand Pacific)
  • One Siknavov Class destroyer
  • Three Piskiri Class destroyers
  • One Lekenavi Class frigate in the forward patrol position
  • Two Iskalov Class submarines
  • One Kubasri Class supply ship
  • One Sukavrir Class aircraft carrier
  • Two Siknavov Class destroyers
  • Three to four Piskiri Class desroyers
  • Two Lekenavi Class frigates
  • Three Iskalov Class submarines
  • One Kubasri Class supply ship

Most Vekaiyun submarines are in offensive "pack" formations scattered around The East Pacific realm, but the frequency with which they placed on duty has decreased dramatically.

Air Forces

The Vekaiyun Air Force is comprised of mainly fighter jets such as the VZ-125 Yoviko Fighter Craft, VZ-145 Esigko Fighter Craft, VI-29 Reykanosk Carrier Fighther Craft, and VM-84 Birikau Fighter Craft. Bombers are also present. While being phased out, the VZ-101 Fighter Craft are still used, although they proved insufficient against Vulshain MiGs and Sukhois during the 2010 Vekaiyun Civil War.

The Vekaiyun Air Force currently lacks adequate helicopters. Vekaiyu may be planning to purchase Vulshainian Hind gunships to fulfill their helicopter needs.
