Not to be confused with Mékanjis-Secen, the Seketese way of referring to the Mi'Kenese.

The Secens people (singular Secen) refers to the people that migrated from northern Europe into modern day Seketan and their society in the Nelborne Islands before European colonization. Historically, Secens were peaceful and invited the French settlers, even unifying and forming the Kingdom of Seketan.

Etymology

Secens in Seketese refers to both aboriginal peoples and historic people. Secens in some dialects Old Seketese and in Secens Language literally meant human. Secens in mordern Seketese refers to both aboriginal peoples and historic people. This is shown with phrases like Mékanjis-Secen, which refer to the Mi'kenese.
