Hasnuni (Hazam language: Хаснуни) officially the City of Hasnuni (Hazam language: Кроми дэл Хаснуни) is the largest city and the capital of Hazamaeia. It also acts as the capital of Hasnunia State and Hasnuni High Governorate. Hasnuni is located in the northeastern part of the country along the low part of the Rtav on the shore of Bight of Hasnuni. The Hasnuni Kingdom was once ruled the city and made the city as the kingdom's capital. According to the 2010 census, Hasnuni is inhabited by 3,158,241 people, making it the most populated city in Hazamaeia.

As the capital of Hazamaeia, Hasnuni hosts the Hazamaeian Presidential Palace and the Concil of Professors and Experts building. It is also served by the biggest seaport in the country at Ilhavvramvani which maintains the export of more than 120,000 tonnes agricultural products, the main GDP source of Hazamaeia. Hasnuni also acts as one of the main railway hubs in the country with more than 14 active routes available from the Proklarominrya Central Station to various cities across the nation. Hasnuni also is served by the biggest airport in Hazamaeia the Uponizien International.

Etymology

The word hasnuni is possibly derived from the name of the Hasnuni Kingdom which in turn may come from hasnuniran the endonym of the native people in the city's location. In Old Hasnunian language, the word asnu means "estuary" which came from the Ancient Hasnunian word {}-s-nu. The -ni suffix means "land" in Old Hasnunian (so with Old Hasnunian name of Runia, Rwni). Hasnuni means "land of the estuary" which refers to the estuary of the Rtav River.

History

The first human settlement in the current location of the city was probably occurred during the 1st bicentury Rahernw proved with bronze knives found beneath the sediment layers at the Rtav estuary. Following the end of the 2nd bicentury of Rahernw, several fisherman and farmer villages starting to emerge around the estuary which gradually became a port town by the start of 4th bicentury Rahernw.

A kingdom then established on the town with Falemra I of Hasnuni reigned as its first monarch. The Hasnuni Kingdom stood through most of the history in the region, expanding its territory as far as the current location of Honolma and southern Votskad, influencing regional trade and culture. The tale of merchant Hazmi in the Chronicles of Ntrikhum happened in the kingdom at approximately 27th bicentury Rahernw, spreading Islam throughout Hasnuni and the rest of eastern Hazamaeia. The kingdom finally annexed by Stadnawi Kingdom, ending 189 years of personal union.

During the Great War of All, the city was not to much affected by the war since most of the battles happened south. After the Petrojian Confederacy founded, sixteen states decided to leave the confederation to form the Federation of Hazamaeia with Hasnuni being the capital.

At the Yurukman War, Hasnuni functioned as the central command for the eastern Hazamaeia which operated several major battles such as the Siege of Panalava and Battle of Gavurnia Cape. After the referendum, Hasnuni was chosen as the newly founded union's capital by the first session of the Council of Professors and Experts in Vezelmeska.

Hasnuni is led by a mayor elected every 4 years by the council. Avurekha Ahortlantuva is the current mayor after the 2013 election in parliament.
