The Special Intervention Unit abbreviated U.I.E (Spanish:Unidad de Intervención Especial) are the national counter-terrorism force of Narsora, under the command of the Ministry of Interior .
The Special Intervention Unit was formed in mid-2015 after an amalgamation of various counter-terrorism units of the National Police and Ministry of Interior.
Known Operations
On May 8, 2015 four militants affiliated with the FEMOINGOLS pro-independence group stormed a supermarket in Aṭavī, Narsora taking 13 hostages for two hours, until 12 members of the unit stormed the market killing three of the four militants and taking the fourth into custody.
In September 2015, the unit was involved in an anti-terror operation; Operation Medidas to arrest known and suspected members of the FEMOINGOLS militant group. The operation resulted in 25 arrests and 15 persons charged and was the second largest police operation in Narsoran history.
