Eckhardt Baumstein (born 23 October 1854) is a Generalleutnant (Major General) from Rotgeheim in the Verteidigungsstaffel. He is in command of the IV VS-Panzerkorps, which totals around 60,000 soldiers divided into three divisions.
Eckhardt joined the Navy of Rotgeheim at the age of 19 in 1873, rising from the rank of Fähnrich zur See (Midshipman) to Kommodore (Commodore). After the formation of the Verteidigungsstaffel in 1884 he transferred branches, being commissioned as a Generalmajor (Brigadier General). In 1897 he was promoted to Generalleutnant (Major General). During the 10 Days War he was in command of the IV VS-Panzerkorps. Although his unit was last to arrive and participate in the war, it nonetheless was successful in defeating the forces of Porant and liberating Hundermenschen.
In 1875 he met a shopkeeper while on leave in Güstrow, the city outside his duty station. He married her the next year. Together they have one child together, Edwin (born 15 April 1879). Edwin was married to Petra Tischendorf from 1899 to 1913 - it ended in his death. They had two children together, Rudolf (Born 3 January 1906) and Timo (born 17 July 1908).
Eckhardt's only son, Edwin, was a Hauptmann (Captain) in the 5th Reconnaissance Battalion of the 5th VS-Panzer Division Wiking. He was killed in action during the Battle of Bloody Gulch, when his armored car was destroyed in an ambush on his reconnaissance patrol by forces of the Porantan military. His son was killed in action on 20 January 1913.
