FRELIMO is the primary political party in Mocambyk since the nation achieved independence in 2014. As a liberation front it country to independence after over a decade of guerrilla warfare and self described "People's War". At the Third Party Congress in May 2018 FRELIMO transformed from a front to an official political party, Partido FRELIMO, and officially adopted a pro-communist, Marxist-Leninist, stance.
