His Imperial and Royal Majesty's Treasury
His Imperial and Royal Majesty's Treasury (HIRM Treasury), sometimes referred to as the Exchequer or simply the Treasury, is the Diadochian government department responsible for matters relating to Diadochia's public finance policy, all economic policy, the central government budget, taxes, banking, security and insurance, international economic work, central, provincial and local government.
History
The Department was officially established by Emperor Cassander IX in 950, and has a thousand years of imperial rule. The department originated as the General Logothete in the 7th century when it was essentially a section of the Vestiarion or Public Wardrobe, which in those days controlled the empire's finances as well as the Emperor's physical attire and furniture. The modern Vestiarion continues to exist today, but has a furniture depot, with its former financial responsibilities taken over by the HIRM Treasury.
Originally the head of the department was the Megas Mesazon or Lord High Treasurer, a position now held in commission by the Prime Minister of Diadochia as First Lord of the Treasury. The Second Lord of the Treasury is the Chancellor of the Exchequer who is the head of the department.
