Johannes III, Prince von Fürstenstein (1911-1934) was the son of Hereditary Prince Johannes von Fürstenstein.

He was born with a very weak health, which was a source of concern for his parents. As a result, he was completely educated at home. Because his health relegated him to bed many times, he read voraciously of many subjects, and was extremely cultured. He was also passionate about piano and violin, and loved animals, even though he was not able to ride due to his physical limitations.

Johannes succeeded his grandfather, Prince Karl II, when he was ten. It was his mother, Princess Antonia, who governed the family as some sort of regent. The young prince frequently travelled to Ilonburg at the recommendation of his doctors, who believed that the mountain air would help him. He was close to his uncle, the future Prince Gerlach II, who in turn was very fond of him.

His health turned for the worse in 1933, and he spent the last months of his life in Tremstadt Palace. He died in 1934, and was deeply mourned by both the Fürstenstein and Ilonburg families. He was succeeded by his brother Albrecht.
