Johannes, Hereditary Prince von Fürstenstein (1873-1916) was the son and heir of Prince Karl II von Fürstenstein.

He was a keen sportsman, and was known for the shootings he organised at Tremstadt Palace. After completing his studies and military training, he travelled across Western Atlantic, and he developed a love for oriental works of art, especially from Sabaristan and Daytanistan. Because of him, the family collection of Sabari and Daytan items is one of the largest outside of those countries.

Johannes fell in love with Antonia of Ilonburg, a niece of the reigning prince, Dietrich IX. They married in 1903 and had five children: Monika (b. 1905), Elisabeth (b. 1906), Louise (b. 1909), Johannes (b. 1911) and Albrecht (b. 1914).

He died in 1916 after falling from a horse during a hunt. As a result, it was his eldest son who succeeded as head of the princely family.
