Lefteris Fabius, 26th Duke of Paphlagonia, KP (1590 – 28 November 1662) was a Diadochian nobleman.

Early life and background

Fabius was the son of Stefanos Fabius, Lord Amisos. Lefteris was the grandson of Stefanos Fabius, 25th Duke of Paphlagonia and Lady Theodora Psellos, the daughter of the Duke of Salamis, which thus gave him a distant claim to the throne through the latter's descent from Princes Maria, younger sister of Emperor Eric II of Diadochia. He was also the great-grandson of Stefanos Fabius, 24th Duke of Paphlagonia.

Secret marriage

Fabius made a secret marriage on 26 July 1612 to a noblewoman named Anastasia, both of whom were potential pretenders to the throne. The marriage was seen as a threat by the Emperor Constantine V of Diadochia. As a result, Lefteris was condemned to life imprisonment in the Fortress of Saint George (thus becoming the fourth of five generations of Fabius family to spend time in the Tower).

In July 1613, Seymour escaped from the Fortress, planning to meet up with Anastasia, who also had escaped captivity. They were planning to flee to Europe, but bad weather and other circumstances prevented their meeting, and Anastasia was recaptured. While she herself was placed in the Fortress, Lefteris managed to reach safety abroad. Anastasis remained there until her death in 1617, without ever being reunited with her husband.

Political career

Seymour was elected as a member of Parliament in 1622 but vacated the seat soon afterwards on succeeding his grandfather as Duke of Paphlagonia in 1623. He than became a prominent member of the House of Archontes.

Paphlagonia died at Elateia House. He was succeeded by his grandson Lefteris Fabius, 27th Duke of Paphlagonia.

Family

Lefteris Fabius was married twice, first to a noblewomen named Anastasia, they had no children.

Lefteris was married for a second time on 1619 to Lady Francesca Kalothetos, daughter of the Earl of Elateia. They had seven children:
