<!--German executive power for the major part of West Germany was first reorganised in the so-called Bizone (American and British occupation zones) in 1947. As of 1948, there was an "Administrative Council" composed of "Directors" for several departments and chaired by an Oberdirektor.
+
During the Second Tarperti Civil War, Tarper was split into two countries which both had presidential systems. The Northern Alliance was ruled by socialists and the National Confederation was ruled by fascists. The two nations were united after the end of the civil war.

<!--In 1949, three separate German states were established: the Federal Republic of Germany (known as West Germany), the Saar Protectorate, a protectorate of France which joined West Germany in 1956, and the German Democratic Republic (known as East Germany). The list below gives the Chancellors of West Germany; the government of East Germany was headed by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers. In 1990, East Germany was dissolved (see German reunification) and merged with West Germany, which retained the name of the Federal Republic of Germany.

This page is a work in progress by its author(s) and should not be considered final.

The Chancellor of Tarper is the political leader of Tarper and the head of the Federal Government. The office holder is responsible for selecting all other members of the government and chairing Cabinet meetings.

The office was created in the Tarperti-Sangheli État in 1848, when Alexis Coupe became the first Chancellor. With the Unification of Tarper and establishment of the United Kingdoms of Tarper in 1901, the Confederation evolved into a nation-state and the office became known as the Chancellor of Tarper.

Originally, the Chancellor was only responsible to the King. This changed with the constitutional reform in 1903, when the Parliament was given the right to dismiss the Chancellor. Under the 1912 Communist Government the Chancellors were to be appointed by the Communist party, but were responsible to Parliament. The constitution was set aside during the 1991–2000 dictatorship. The Articles of Federalization made the Chancellor the most important office in the country, naming the entire country after the office, while diminishing the role of the President.

Since 2013, the office has been held by Maximilian Herzog, the current Leader of the Socialist Unity Party.
