Mégas Doúkas Náv̱archos (Greek: Μέγας Δούκας Ναύαρχος, or French: Grand-Duc Admiral) in English it is Grand Duke Admiral or sometimes roughly Lord High Admiral is the ninth rank of the Great Officers of the Realm, being located below the Megas Domestikos. In Diadochia the office is the naval equivalent of the Megas Konostaulos (Grand Constable). History

By the 17th century when ever a Mégas Doúkas Náv̱archos was appointed, there was also a Council of which assisted him and performed some of the duties of the Admiralty. When the office is vacant the responsibilities of the Mégas Doúkas Náv̱archos are exercised by the Admiralty Board. On several occasions the Monarch has served in the post, as well as members of the Imperial Family.
