The Most Serene Archduchy of Aeternaea, and the Free-State of Lolede (Aetae'ii Kar'Hae'Ys Fy'S'Tae Liu'O'Dea, literally "The Immortal and Eternal Territory of the Archudcy and Endless State of Lolede") is possibly the oldest nation-state in Gwalethia, that has existed in one way or another since before the Heroic Age, which was from 1102-799 Pre-WE. It is a military and economic power, existing near the centre of Gwalethia. Officially established in its current state on the one-hundred and thirteenth day of 487 WE, with Killy IV vi Gloustern's conquest of Miritas.
The Archduchy's rapid militarisation and economic advances led to its emergence as a global power, allowing for its current establishment the The Act of Free-States, which is the establishment of colonies that are known as Free-states, which are semi-autonomous; granting 15% of their trade to the throne, and granting the throne full powers over their military. There existed originally three Free-States, but the one that currently remains annexed the other two to form a Greater Free-State.
Heavily isolationist, all interactions between the Eternal Throne and outsiders are typically done through intermediaries, usually through Merchant Diplomats, or, on very rare occasions, through Holy Diplomats. Due to their isolationist tendencies, they typically refuse to work in tandem with other nations in terms of innovation or military actions. Contrary to the common-held isolationism, the merchant enclaves that exist throughout the land are known for their willingness to discuss with outsiders, and to learn from them. This unconventional attitude allowed for the establishment of the Order of the Mandela, a group of scholars, merchants, and individuals whom wish to change the Archduchy from an isolationist state into a globalist state.
Currently, the Archduchy is headed by Archduke Adean II Gloustern vi Aeternis, a more open individual compared to most of his predecessors, not counting his father, the Ducal Father Edeart "Edward" I Gloustern vi Aeternis, whom was more open with outsiders. Under the leadership of Adean II, the military has seen an even greater boost in investment, with the overall goal of gaining a navy that will never be rivaled.
