Austritaria is a medium-sized region, with a thriving community of 10 nations and only 6 World Assembly Members.
The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of Austritaria eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Nations in the region are considered developing democracies, with some political freedoms afforded to denizens. Families in the region are so obsessed with the economy that the discussion of laffer curves and supply-side reforms over dinner is a regular occurrence in member nations. Denizens suffer under an enormous tax burden throughout the region, with a median tax rate of 63%, and much higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the private sector, with on average 26% of the economy comprising the public sector. Stoking commercial activity is a major priority for governments, accounting for an average of 11% of public expenditure.
Austritaria does not prioritize education in any meaningful way. There is a very high level of crime within the region and law enforcement resources are stretched thin. Denizens have well-funded defense forces. Public transport is an afterthought, with only 1% of total government budgets in the region being devoted to it.
Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Austritaria. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Governments generally endow their healthcare departments with a large amount of funding, with an average of 6% of government budgets across the region being devoted to healthcare. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.
Social inequality is rife amongst the nations within Austritaria. The environments of the nations in the region are almost universally appalling.
Regional Politics
The region lacks a proper governing body; nations are free to decide for their own and enjoy a great deal of autonomy. Several regional organisations such as the Western Trade Confederation, the Eastern Austritarian Alliance and the Krepost Pact offer those in the right location a chance at protection and economic prosperity.

Nations in Austritaria usually have a few major characterising government priorities. Some countries spend most of their funding on the military like Menatolo, Groznyj Leich or The Weltenbaum, while nations like The Geniocratics or The Afanisian Isles focus on commerce and trade. However, political weights like Grand Britaria, Asirland, Grand Adscia and Elysium Bay also play an important role in the region, focusing on the social sectors of the government. This gives a very detailed chemistry between many nations, with a complex set of rivalries and friendships.
Senior Nations (OOC)
The 'Senior Nations' are The Geniocratics, Grand Britaria, Menatolo, Groznyj Leich and The Afanisian Isles. These five people have been the longest in Austritaria, and have all contributed to its growth and evolution. As such, the Senior Nations are the most influential in OOC decisions that concern Austritaria.
