Borderlands

Borderlands is a minuscule region, inhabited by a sole nation.

In Borderlands, denizens enjoy their civil rights, although not too much, or too freely. Political freedoms are extended only to close friends and relatives of the leaders of the region's governments. The economy of the region is very strong, with a large number of very powerful trading powers. Denizens tend to pay their taxes quickly and quietly, with a median tax rate of 23%. The economies of nations in the region tend to be weighted more towards the public sector, with on average only 42% of the economy comprising the private sector. Stoking commercial activity is a major priority for governments, accounting for an average of 9% of public expenditure.

Education is a priority for governments throughout Borderlands, with ample funding being provided and teachers enjoying a great deal of support. Crime is low: the region enjoys well-equipped and well-funded police forces, coupled with efficient but fair judicial systems. Denizens have very well-funded, well equipped defense forces. Due to the lack of any Public transport, streets are packed with cars, bikes, and assorted noisy vehicles.

Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Borderlands. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Governments bestow their healthcare departments with a gargantuan amount of funding, with an average of 14% of government budgets across the region being heaped on to healthcare. Governments in the region have a pathological fixation on welfare, with welfare budgets soaking up huge amounts of government expenditure. Governments within the region are fixated with religious worship, with nations having an inordinately high average of 15% of total government funds devoted to it.

In Borderlands, Social inequality is total, with wealth being held by a tiny fraction of the region's populace. The landscapes of the region are no longer recognizable as such, the atmosphere being unbreathable and the only jungles being made of concrete.
