Borealias is a medium-sized region, with a thriving community of 19 nations and only 3 World Assembly Members.
The straight-backed, broad-smiling populace of Borealias eagerly dismissed concerns of oppression. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. The economy of the region is very strong, with a large number of very powerful trading powers. Inhabitants rarely are visited by the tax collector, and the region boasts a paltry median tax rate of 3%. The economies of nations in the region tend to be dominated by the private sector, with on average only 2% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is a priority for governments, accounting for an average of 6% of public expenditure.
In Borealias, denizens are afforded a reasonable education, although funding is somewhat wanting. Criminality is rife within the region, with law enforcement struggling to cope. Governments allocate a meagre 1%, on average, of their budgets to law and order. Denizens have very well-funded, well equipped defense forces. Due to the lack of any Public transport, streets are packed with cars, bikes, and assorted noisy vehicles.
Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Borealias. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Some government provision is made for healthcare, but at an average of only 3% the provision for healthcare in the region is paltry. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.
Social inequality is rife amongst the nations within Borealias. The landscapes of the region are no longer recognizable as such, the atmosphere being unbreathable and the only jungles being made of concrete.
