Introduction

For the purposes of recording the history of the region for posterity, this history (no longer an ongoing project, this introduction is outdated, but left here) will be compiled from the accounts of those present for events, and where they exist, records from the discord server. It is my intention to make this history as accurate and detailed as possible. As the region's story is coming to a close, this history is part of an effort to provide a more complete history of the new region as it develops, rather than after the fact. For the purposes of this history, some alts may be included depending on their relevancy to current events, while some nations of which little record exists, may be entirely ignored. As the process continues, detailed accounts of important events will hopefully develop. But remember that for now, this is a work in progress (not anymore obviously, though not finished either). -Ltin

The First Nations

The origins of many nations in KilianExp are unknown. But some details can be found. Millennium Kids, The Outcasts of Britannia, Stina, Unia Freterland, Plebeianaia, Shrooms^*, The Alliance of Air and Oxygen, East and West Kekistan, Truls Ynglings, Noctenos, and Tertilina all formed early in the history of KilianExp. Also known to be around at the time was the megacorporation Ltin Corporation, which had claimed some islands as their own sovereign land, in which their headquarters was located, but had most of it's operations occurring in other countries. These nations mostly existed peacefully and without any major controversy.

The Rise of the Imperium

After the introduction of monarchist ideas in Britannia, democracy in the nation was replaced by a dictatorship. In a series of related events, an alliance between Plebeiania and Britannia led to the formation of The United Imperium. With Plebeiania at the top, a hierarchy of vassals was formed. The Imperium's first unified act was an invasion of MilleniumKids. Collectively the Imperium began to project their power, invading Tertilina and Shrooms into their fold. Coupled with significant business deals with Ltin Corporation, the Imperium seemed to be poised for world domination.

To counter the threat of the Imperium, the two nations of Kekistan, Unia Freterland, and The Alliance of Air and Oxygen formed The Commonwealth. Not long after, the agricultural base of Air and Oxygen suffered a significant crash. In response, Air and Oxygen sought aid from Britannia, and joined The Imperium.

Wars of Words

From the moment of The Commonwealth's creation, there was hostility between it and The Imperium. This was naturally expected, seeing as The Commonwealth was founded to counter the treat posed by The Imperium. Attempts to diffuse tensions began fairly soon. The efforts of East Kekistan are particularly notable. Throughout The Commonwealth's history, however, tensions remained high. Many times it seemed as if the region would erupt into full scale war, and the region probably would have if another war had not severely shaken up politics in the region.

Though the most powerful nation in The Imperium was de jure Plebeiania, as time passed, Britannia gained more and more influence, on both the inner politics of The Imperium, and its relationships with outside entities. Britannia was often the nation through which deals were made with The Imperium, such as a notable manufacturing deal with Ltin Corporation. It was not long before the de facto most powerful nation in The Imperium was Britannia. A desire to increase their power further drove Britannia to, along with the nations under its control, revolt against The Imperium. The Vassals of Britannia, and the Vassals of Plebeiania were kept out of war by these two nations, who went at it head to head.

The war was brutal. On the tarmac of an airport a Plebeian ambassador who had planned to meet the leader of Britannia, opened fire, injuring the nation's leader, Samuel, and numerous Britannia dignitaries. Urging neutral nations to stay out of the conflict, Plebeiania's leader said "You are not safe. Do not intervene."

The injury of Samuel led to a power vaccum in Britannia. Rising to fill in the void left by Samuel's injuries was Lord Horatio Nelson. Putting a provisional military government into place, he began to organize Britannia's war with Plebeiania.

Plebeiania initially made quick gains, in lands such as Britannia Maxtopia. There, dissenters who openly fought against Plebeiania were executed, while those who were less violent were placed in work camps. The Plebeianians saw these actions as a justified response to betrayal, but after the war many nations, Britannia in particular, would see this as a horrific war crime. In other parts of the nation meanwhile, Britannian forces, led by Horatio Nelson, launch an organized counter-attack. Plebeianian reinforcements would soon arrive, and push back the Britannians into the sea. Ultimately the Nelson Offense was the bloodiest battle of the war, ending in a series of treaties bringing Plebeiania into the newly formed Empire.

The New Empire

While The Imperial War was going on, Kekistan had invaded Eastern Plebeiania, citing the war between Britannia and Plebeiania. Upon completion of the war, Eastern Plebeiania was returned it's sovereignty. Around that same time East Kekistan became embroiled in a quick civil war, in which the Bastard son of Empress Vitiate attempting to claim the throne. Eventually, the general leading the rebellion and the empress herself fought to the death, with the empress coming out victorious and quelling the rebellion.

At the conclusion of these events Kekistan joined The Empire, and The Empire went on a series of expansion wars. Air and Oxygen and a small group of nations called The Communities were all annexed into The Empire. Other nations, such as Millennium Kids, also joined. A particularly notable series of conflicts took place in the land of Patrickberri. The Empire, Plebeiania in particular, had occupied Patrickberri as part of The Empire's expansion. Ltin Corporation, who had before now mostly stayed out of conflicts, even to the point of supplying both sides of them, began to take notice. Operating under a perhaps misguided notion that The Empire was a threat to Ltin Corporation's business model, they began to coordinate with Patrickberrian rebels that had started to spring up. Having acquired pieces of the standard issue power armor used by The Empire, Ltin Corporation attempted, which some, but not much success, to replicate the armor. The results were nowhere near the effectiveness of The Empire's armor, but it was still above anything the rest of the world had seen. Combined with the development of an EMP based weapon designed specifically to defeat Imperial armor, they began to supply the rebels with this technology, and secretly try to build up support for an official invasion of Patrickberri.

There was no support. Ltin Corporation made perhaps one of the worst military decisions ever made, despite having absolutely no backing from any other nations, and launched an invasion of Plebeiania. At the very biggining it went well, but things turned south pretty quick. Plebeianian forces were organized, and they were numerous. Far larger than any army Ltin Corporation could ever field. In addition to the losing battle in Patrickberri, employees of Ltin Corporation, agitated over the violation of Ltin Corporation's neutrality, began protesting in the Ltin Corporation Headquarters. Protests quickly turned into riots. When Plebeianian forces eventually invaded the islands, the city was in chaos. After gaining control of the city, Ltin Corporation was incorporated into The Empire as a state corporation under Plebeiania.

During the course of the riots, a number of employees of Ltin Corporation fled as refugees. Rather than go to some country, they founded their own government, and named their new country Employeestan.

Turmoil in Britannia

The Empire's time of relative peace was short lived. Though East and West Kekistan were brought into union as one Kekistan, the time was defined by conflict. A faction in the Britannian government formed in support of the dynasty of its leader, Samuel. The faction was noted to be incredibly critical of Horatio, who commanded Britannian forces in The Imperial War. When Samuel was killed, The Dynastic Loyalists claimed Horatio was the one who had him killed, although this was never proven.

After Samuel's death Britannia and The Empire entered into civil war. Within Britannia two factions fought for control. The Dynastic Loyalists fought to install Samuel's son, Charles. The Military Government, meanwhile, attempted in install its leader, Horatio. After initially winning a series of battles, The Military Government began to falter, with strings of victories going to The Dynastics.

The response from the rest of The Empire was mixed. Kekistan initially participated, but pulled almost as quickly as it joined in. Plebeiania fought against The Dynastics for a time, but pulled out quite soon as well. MilleniumKids and Air and Oxygen both pledged their support for The Dynastics Loyalists, but were not involved militarily.

The war became even more complicated at The Battle of Munich. In addition to The Dynastic Loyalists and the Military Government clashing, a war veteran named Douglas Jacob led citizens of Munich to battle against both armies. Against all odds, Jacob was victorious, and new troops flocked to him. He entered the war as a third faction vying for control of Britannia. As the war progressed it seemed that The Dynastics had perhaps begun to gain an upper hand. In particular The Military Government had begun to falter, being dealt many defeats by The Jacobans, who in turn were often defeated by the Dynastics, although by closer margins.

The wars end came about more swiftly with the arrival of Plebeiania into the war once again. Although not initially clear, Plebeiania had allied itself with the loyalists, although mostly engaging only The Military Government. The resulting chaos allowed The Dynastic Loyalists to make their final move, pushing the Jacobans and Military Government to the shores of Britannia, and blockading the capital occupied by Horatio. Charles assumed his role as leader of Britannia, having commanded one of the largest armies ever seen, calling himself Carolus Rex.

Following the civil war in Britannia, another civil war broke out, this time in the lands of Kekistan. The first round of rebels was quickly beaten down, but the second round consisted of the three children of the empress, and their new government obtained significant power. The civil war ended in the empress ceding the empire to her children.

These events ultimately lead to the final dissolution of what was left of The Empire.

Britannia also formed an alliance with Kekistan.

The Council of Independent Nations

The nation of Employeestan was founded by refugees from Ltin Corporation, who were discontent with the company's sudden invasion of Patrickberri. Moving to form their own nation, it began very idealist, with a significant emphasis on political freedom and peace. In keeping with these ideals, a plan which had actually begun but never been completed by Ltin Corporation was put into place, forming The Council of Independent Nations (also known as CoIN and CIN). Employeestan and its leaders had high hopes for the council, but hampered by a lack of support from major nations, and a rather slow pace of progress, the council had much less of an impact that Employeestan would have preferred.

To Space

MilleniumKids was the first to establish colonies in space, with the launching of their first colony ship. Not long after, CoIN passed Resolution A2, which created neutral colonies in space, run by an organization headed by Unia Freterland. Kekistan quickly followed, with a massive launch of spaceships from the desert in Kekistan.

Rapid expansion led to war however. Britannian forces invaded Unia Freterland, which also involved the glassing of a colony that had been set up by Unia Freterland. The treaty signed by the two nations declared Britannia the cause of the war, and required Britannia to pay reparations, of which more were paid than actually required, even to family members who had been affected by the glassing of the colony, and required Britannia to assist in the creation of a new coloy to replace the one which had been destroyed, This colony proved to be the largest one yet.

Elwil, the leader of MilleniumKids, which had settled a number of colonies near the center of the galaxy, was kidnapped by Kekistan, after being tricked into visiting the nation. The result fiasco ended with Elwil being freed, but also removed from leadership of the country.

As time passed relations between Britannia and Plebeiania began to improve. The Britannian union with Kekistan was disbanded, with Air & Oxygen taking their place. Plebeiania attempted to enter Britannia to help rebuild, but their entrance was denied.

War, meanwhile, broke out again, which Britannia invading Plebeiania, who was reinforced by the newly formed Kavash Federation, which had split from Kekistan as they colonized space. The conflict ended finally in the abdication of the leader of Plebeiania, and the appointment of one of his sons.

New Space Empires

As the new space empires began to develop, two primary powers began to emerge. The Britannian Commonwealth and the Kavash Ascendency would have high tensions between each other for the duration of their mutual existence. The Kavash Ascendency were particularly notable in their genetic manipulation of themselves. They had a disdain for others as they progressed, believing themselves to be superior to non modified humans in every way.

As Plebeiania (and Ltin Corporation, under charters from Plebeiania) became the last great nation to expand into space, a new alliance between Unia Freterland, The Kavash Ascendency, and Britannia was formed to develop new spacecraft.

The religion of MilleniumKids involved worship of the center of the galaxy, and their presence near the galaxy was notable in their increased influence. As their research progressed, their influence on Britannia in particular increased.

Military Missteps

Britannia wanted to invade the Kavash. Their intelligence led them to areas on the other side of the center, where, once they encountered colonized planets, destroyed 4. The problem with this was that those planets were not Kavash. The Kavash Empire was in fact on the far edge of the other side of the galaxy. The planets destroyed by Britannia belonged to the Imperium of Quall, and incredibly large and advanced empire from an entire other galaxy. Their reaction was swift and powerful, but limited. A series of 4 neutral human worlds were destroyed by the Imperium.

Meanwhile, the Kavash Ascendency invaded Air and Oxygen, leading to the involvement of the entirety of Britannia. Fighting was violent, particularly in orbit above Earth. Ultimately Kavash forces were forced to retreat. They fell back to caves in the lands of Air and Oxygen, and posted white flags.

MilleniumKids meanwhile launched an assault on a planet owned by a civilization called the Vintaki. The assault was halted and forces pulled back when their capital was invaded by Britannia. MilleniumKids was entered into the Britannian Commonwealth.
