Norrlandia

Norrlandia is a minuscule region, inhabited by a sole nation.

Throughout Norrlandia civil rights are held dearly by all. Political freedoms are extended only to close friends and relatives of the leaders of the region's governments. It’s the economy, stupid... and in this region, it’s massive. The median tax rate of the region is 40%, but is frequently higher for the wealthy. The economies of nations in the region tend to be heavily weighted towards the public sector, with on average only 22% of the economy comprising the private sector. Commerce is a major priority of national governments within the region, most of whom are trading nations, as is evidenced by the fact that commerce budgets account for an average of 16% of public expenditure in the region.

Norrlandia values education extremely highly, and denizens compete for the largest number of university degrees and sprawling book collections. Crime is low: the region enjoys well-equipped and well-funded police forces, coupled with efficient but fair judicial systems. Denizens have small defense forces. Public transport is a popular mode of transport in the region, receiving on average of 12% of total government budgets.

Nobody really knows about the state of administration in Norrlandia. Observers asked for information, but found nobody was available to take calls. Governments bestow their healthcare departments with a gargantuan amount of funding, with an average of 11% of government budgets across the region being heaped on to healthcare. No welfare is provided in the region. Those unlucky enough to fall into unemployment are forgotten and abandoned. Governments in the region are avowedly atheist - no public funds are allocated to spirituality.

In Norrlandia, denizens benefit from a good balance of social equality and motivation for advancement, although equality is the priority. The environments of the nations in the region are almost universally appalling.
