Ryor

Ryor is a minuscule region, inhabited by a sole nation.

In Ryor, denizens enjoy their civil rights, although not too much, or too freely. Denizens generally have very few political freedoms, but some limited freedom is afforded to citizens of nations in the region. Families in the region are so obsessed with the economy that the discussion of laffer curves and supply-side reforms over dinner is a regular occurrence in member nations. Inhabitants of the region ultimately pay most of their earnings to the government, as the median tax rate is 95%, or more! The economies of nations in the region tend to be weighted more towards the public sector, with on average only 45% of the economy comprising the private sector. Stoking commercial activity is a major priority for governments, accounting for an average of 9% of public expenditure.

Ryor values education extremely highly, and denizens compete for the largest number of university degrees and sprawling book collections. Crime is low: the region enjoys well-equipped and well-funded police forces, coupled with efficient but fair judicial systems. Defense is an overarching priority for governments within the region. One might suggest they are compensating for something. Public transport is an afterthought, with only 2% of total government budgets in the region being devoted to it.

Governments in Ryor find themselves in a constant state of disarray, with very little co-ordination, only 1% on average of government budgets being devoted to Administration. Governments generally endow their healthcare departments with a large amount of funding, with an average of 8% of government budgets across the region being devoted to healthcare. Welfare is a large part of government expenditure, with denizens amply provided for. Spirituality is a moderate priority of governments within the region, with1% of government budgets being devoted to Spirituality.

Social inequality is a major problem within Ryor, although some effort has been made to correct the problem. Natural environments are quite bad, although some measures have been undertaken to ensure that the environment is protected.
