The Empire of Nova Roma et agros captos is the largest and most influential faction in the multi-verse of Nova Roman Canon. It is one political entity yet is divided into several semi-independent states. The capital of The Empire of Nova Roma et agros captos is Nova Roma City, commonly known as "The Capital" and was previously named Washington D.C. when under the control of the United States of America.
The Empire of Nova Roma et agros captos was formed as an independent nation in the year 2025 by the Imperial Rome Society following the transfer of power from the government of the United States of America to the IRS in the year 2024 due to a lack of control over the American population. At this point, the Empire only controlled the land previously under the rule of the USA so in reality did not have any "agros captos" (Latin for captured lands).
However, this changed in the opening of the year 2026 when the Empire's closest neighbour and ally, The Federal Republic of Nova Britannia, formally known as Canada, peacefully and voluntarily joined the Empire. It was decided by the New Senate, the Empire's governmental system, that to distinguish the previously American and previously Canadian territories apart, the land from the United States would from then on be known as The Roman States of the Empire of Nova Roma et agros captos and the land from Canada would be named The Ex-Federal Republic of Nova Britannia.
Over the course of the closing months of 2026, the combined army of the Empire, marched across Europe, claiming the land in the name of Emperor Sartorius and stopped at the European edge of the "Russian Wastelands". The European nations were reformed into imperial sub-states, such as the Historical Capital of Latium et Tiberis, which was first intended to hold power over Rome and the surrounding area but was given power over all of Italy to simplify the division of Europe.
The exceptions to this were in the nations of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg Norway and Sweden, which had been taken over by the Akavarian community, a celtic group originating in Scotland, in the aftermath of the Dark War. These nations were combined under the joint efforts of the Akavarian community and Nova Roman army, to form the Kingdom of Akavar, with the capital city of Edina (formerly known as Edinburgh). The Kingdom of Akavar has since had great influence over the rest of the Empire, with one of the two consuls always being from Akavar, and is by far the most independent sub-state, with near-full political autonomy and a completely different culture to the rest of Nova Roma.
Over the course of the year 2027, Nova Roma's primary project was the conversion of the western area of the "Russian Wastelands" into a safe nation. This took the form of the Kingdom of Broadswords and is expanding eastwards to this day as more and more land is becoming re-inhabitable. Broadswords is well known for being considered the "left-wing" branch of the Empire and when questioned on this in 2032, Emperor Sartorius said "...in a place so damaged by the war as Broadswords, prioritising the needs of the poor and the general population is perfectly understandable and in my opinion, completely necessary. What works in the Roman States [of the Empire of Nova Roma et agros captos] would not work there. They are not ready for it. In a few years, maybe their politics will become more similar to ours."
From the years 2028-2052, the Empire's greatest priority was the promotion of culture. As such, the senate gave out large grants for the restoration of theatres and opera houses and provided funds for archaeological excavations and research across the Empire.
At the same time, in the years 2031-37, Emperor Sartorius directly oversaw the colonisation of Africa, eventually claiming all of Malawi and Chad as well as five other smaller colonies. Despite the fact that the continent had been militarily almost untouched over the Dark War, the lack of European and American trade had caused most African nation's economies to collapse. To this day, the African Colonised Regions, as they are officially known, are under the control of the Nova Roman army rather than any sort of conventional government.
As time progressed and Emperor Sartorius occupied himself more and more with these projects, he left the New Senate with almost complete control over the Roman States. Unfortunately, by 2053, the Senate had caused a major economic crash in the Roman States, which crippled the administration of the whole Empire. In February 2054, Emperor Sartorius received permission from the New Senate to dissolve it and temporarily take the title of Dictator, with complete control over any aspect of the Empire.
Under his control, the Empire went through harsh austerity measures but the crash was over by the summer of 2054. Sartorius then reformed the Senate under the name of the New Reformed Senate, relinquished his title of Dictator and has ever since taken a much more active role in the Senate's affairs.
Over the course of the years 2055-56, the Nova Roman army captured the nation of Brazil and divided it into two states, Nova Brazil controlled by Nova Britannia and North Brazilia under the Roman States. These states were given semi-independent governments to ensure their needs were met.
In the year 2055, the weak government of Saudiastan (formerly Bahrain Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen) began to lose control over its population and was semi-forcefully annexed by the Empire. The Islamic authorities were replaced by Christian leaders and schools were associated with newly founded churches to promote the conversion of the young people to Christianity, ensuring a Christian future for the birthplace of Islam.
This has caused the controversial Islamic Empire, Azghabad, to increase its attacks against Nova Roma et agros captos and has resulted in a security crisis across the Empire.
There has yet to be an official solution.
History of The Ex-Federal Republic of Nova Britannia
In the year of 2015 The United States signed a deal with Canada (Ex-Federal Republic of Nova Britannia) to protect them from invasion, war and help with national disasters and be a spectator on internal affairs to stop the government from being overthrown in return Canada was a spectator on internal affairs and also allowed US citizens to receive diplomatic aid from Canada abroad in certain countries where the US had little relations with due to political complications E.G. Iran . The deal was made between the two nations as the new Canadian liberal government believed in minimal military forces and did not agree on government involvement in international affairs.
While the agreement worked fine for 4 years things started to change at the beginning of the Dark War. With the United States heavily involved with the Dark War, many Canadians said that the U.S. "Forgot about Canada" as in the Canadian 2020 Federal elections the U.S. failed to see that a mentally ill dictator (Cameron McLean) was somehow elected, it is still unknown how he was elected but some say that the election was rigged. The Dictator had some obsession of the British empire and wanted to try and reinstate the empire in his own way, he failed at that but did, however, rename the country "The Federal Republic of Nova Britannia". Among his dictatorship, he changed provincial borders and the names of many major cities and some of the provinces E.G. Ottawa became Ottaberrea. He was also known for heavily spending on the rapid expansion of the big cities like New Toronto and Ottaberrea. The people of Nova Britannia were oppressed and were not allowed to speak against him and nearly everyone did not think his actions were necessary.
In the year 2023, Cameron McLean was assassinated and since McLean didn't appoint a successor, the people formed together to reinstate the government. The original parliament building was destroyed as there was no proper maintenance taken to the building, So a new parliament was formed in one of the new and abandoned buildings. Government Departments were placed into the previous "Old Canada two towers hotel" so that they could be closer together and work together. After the country was brought back to a stable state, The Federal Republic of Nova Britannia found itself isolated due to the aftermath of the Dark War. With fears of the country collapsing it peacefully joined the empire of Nova Roma Et Agros Captos for support in the year 2026, the decision was not taken lightly at first by the public as they feared having a dictatorship again but once having it explained that the country would still have most control and it would be simmilar to the previous European Union the public were glad that Nova Britannia had joined the empire and the nation started to flourish again.
