Overview
The United Dominion is an intergovernmental sovereign state organized to promote positive international relationships. The United Dominion has 10 official member states. The United Dominion was founded by Oasaes as a replacement for The Federal Nations. This region is home to many countries which vary from Holy Empires to Sultanates.
Government
Crowned Absolute Monarchy
The term 'Crowned Absolute Monarchy' is a combination of two types of governments, crowned republic and monarchy. The term 'crowned republic' refers to a state where a monarch's power is only ceremonious. The term 'absolute monarchy' refers to a government where absolute power rests with the ruler. This form of government is where a monarch's duty is ceremonious but absolute, when exercised. For example, the ruler is mostly always making appearances which constitutes as ceremonious duties; but when the ruler exercises his power, which is rarely, it is absolute.
The Monarchy
The reigning king of The United Dominion is King Kenneth York III of Oasaes. All affairs of the monarchy are strictly operated by the Federal Monarchy of Oasaes. The position of monarch is not gained by election or appointment. Based on Oasaen laws of Succession, only the Monarch of Oasaes will be the Monarch of the United Dominion. Perseia,
Estonyia,
Navarr, and
East Kosovo. The other five member states have Kings who reign in their country in their own right.
The Presidency
The 'President of the United Dominion' is an honorary title for a King of a member state who has won the presidential election. Being president only means that you assume presidential duties and responsibilities. These Kings actually do not go by 'President' however their title is stylized as 'King-President' and they formally go by 'King'. The President of the Dominion is King Gregory V of Osmer. The current Vice-President of the Dominion is King Frederik Hauxell II of Eugaza. The President and Vice-President perform executive actions in the administering of regional laws and policies. The Presidents are elected every four (4) years, or appointed due to special conditions.
The Cabinet
The Cabinet of the President, formally, is made up of three departments. These departments are also headed by Kings. The Cabinet members are appointed by the King every four (4) years.
Department of State
The State Department is headed by the Secretary of State, Holy Latvaryan Empress Alisa Kalhoun.
The Department of State is responsible for international relations of the United Dominion as well as the affairs of the UPA.
Department of Defense & Justice
The Defense Department is headed by the Secretary of Defense, King Nicholas Fruerbach II of the People's Republic of Solankria.
The Department of Defense is charged with coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions of the government concerned directly with national security and the United Dominion Armed Forces. The Department of Justice is responsible for the enforcement of the law and administration of justice in the United Dominion as well as the oversight of all World Court affairs.
Department of Treasury
The Treasury Department is headed by the Secretary of Treasury, Holy Lufthanzan Emperor Ludvig I of the Holy Empire.
The Department of Treasury is responsible for the management of all government funds as well government organization funds.
United Peace Assembly
The United Peace Assembly is a regional organisation founded on November 5, 2013. Due to the powers vested in the organisation and its unique regional character, the United Peace Assembly can take action on the issues confronting humanity in the 21st century, such as peace and security, climate change, sustainable development, human rights, disarmament, terrorism, humanitarian and health emergencies, gender equality, governance, food production, and more. The World Court
The World Court is the primary judicial branch of the United Peace Assembly. It is based in the Judicial Wing of the Palace of Versailles in Oasaes. Its main functions are to settle legal disputes submitted to it by states and to provide advisory opinions on legal questions submitted to it by duly authorized regional branches, agencies, and the UPA General Board. Established in 2014 by the United Peace Assembly, the Court began work in 2015. The Statute of the World Court is that of the Oasaen Premiere Court. See for more information on the World Court
Politics
Politics in the United Dominion is very simplistic as the true politics is carried out in the individual states.
Political Parties
There are few political parties in the Old Dominion. The main two parties are the Old Dominion Party and the Royalist Party. The Old Dominion Party is very conservative and tend to promote retrogressive, common candidates. The Royalist Party is mainly very liberally and tend to nominate progressive, Lord and royals to contend for office.
Election System
The election system works similarly with the legislation system. The regional elections are fairly simple and always fair. The system works on a 100 point scale, where population determines the amount of election points you have. Although many of the nations are Commonwealth and under the rule of another, they are still allocated points in which they can receive a chance at representation. Mechanics of the Election
Once all votes are counted in a country, whomever receives a marginal victory receives the entire amount of election points. If the ratio between candidates is slim, the points are proportioned. Once all points are distributed whoever has the most election points wins.
Majoritarianism
Majoritarianism is very present in this system of election. Many candidates spend time campaigning in Oasaes (which is usually proportioned) and the swing country Osmer. Countries such as East Kosovo, Osmer, and Lufthanza are known to mirror the results in Oasaes, so candidates sought to win over Oasaes in order to win other votes in those countries. If a candidate secures votes in these prime countries, they will receive 69 election points which is a guaranteed victory. On the contrary, not every election turns out the same and votes are almost always proportioned in every country.
