The Veridian Empire is a state founded in 2016 when the Rhodesian and Genoshan 2016 Referendum on Unity went into effect. The state was founded as a result of the unification of Genosha and the Federal Republic of Rhodesia under the influence of the Fascist Party, which can be considered its legal successor state. In 2016 Rhodesia underwent a regime change, whereby the entire democratic leadership was removed and the fascist system of government was instilled at the local and national level via popular vote.

The fascists imposed totalitarian rule and crushed the political opposition, while promoting Monumentalism, Natalism, and a focus on expansion. The Fascist Party was nominally a continuation of the parliamentary system, albeit with "legally organized executive powers." Then came the second phase, "the construction of the Fascist Government proper." The third phase, was the "Unification" of Genosha and Rhodesia, more appropriately annexation by the greater power Rhodesia. Shortly after, political discontent led to the "Rhodesian and Genoshan 2016 Referendum on Unity" on transforming Rhodesia into an official fascist regime.

Government

The Veridian Empire is a representative one party state, regulated by a system of checks and balances defined by the heavily edited Unilateral Declaration of Autonomy, which serves as the country's supreme legal document.

In the autocratic system, citizens and civilians are usually subject to two levels of government: federal and local. The local government's duties are commonly split between county and municipal governments. In almost all cases, executive and legislative officials are elected by a plurality vote of citizens by district. There is no proportional representation at the federal level, and it is rare at lower levels.

The federal government is composed of three branches:

• Legislative: The Parliament, made up of the Fascist Party, makes federal law, declares war, approves treaties, has the power of the purse, and has the power of impeachment, by which it can remove sitting members of the government.
• Executive: The President is the commander-in-chief of the military and appoints the members of the Cabinet (subject to Parlimental approval) and other officers, who administer and enforce federal laws and policies.
• Judicial: The Supreme Court and lower federal courts, whose judges are appointed by the President with Parliamentary approval, interpret laws and overturn those they find unconstitutional.

The Legislative branch is comprised of elected political officials from their respective territories by the party. Inside the Legislative there is the Senate and House of Representatives. The Senate has two officials assigned to every territory.

To pass a bill, it must pass both the House and Senate with at least a two-thirds vote. If the Heads of State Veto the bill or cannot finalize, the bill must pass with at least a three-fourths of the vote. Repealing of a law has the same procedure.

The Judicial system is there to ensure that recently enacted laws do not conflict with previously enforced ones. Each territory has their own respective judicial system, but they all follow a unified set of laws established by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is a court of 13 individuals, in honor of the original 13 founders of the Federal Republic of Rhodesia, that are elected in position by the Parliament.

Citzenship

The Fascist Party before the formation of the Veridian Empire determined that the greatest asset are the people who were willing to take up arms in defense of ones beliefs, therefore a criteria for citizenship was made where service to the Federation through methods such as military service were required to obtain Citizenship. The concept that a citizen accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic.

Civilians are not discriminated against and have more or less equal rights, with the exceptions being the right to vote, governmental positions, tax benefits, and government-subsidized tuition fees. Sexism and racism/speciesism are nonexistent in the Empire, as the ideals of meritocracy is absolute.

Economy

The Veridian Empire has a capitalist mixed economy which is fueled by abundant natural resources and high productivity. It also relies heavily upon a Capitalist Mixed Economy. Private enterprises are common in the nation and most of the time the government contracts out. The GDP is $1,814 Billion, while the GDP per capita is $34,960.

A central feature of the economy is the economic freedom afforded to the private sector by allowing the private sector to make the majority of economic decisions in determining the direction and scale of what the Veridian economy produces. This is enhanced by relatively low levels of regulation and government involvement, as well as a court system that generally protects property rights and enforces contracts.

From its start as a fascist nation, the Veridian Empire has encouraged science and innovation in military and space applications. Governmental spending on defense R&D and antitrust policy played a significant role in the Empire's innovation.

The Veridian Empire is rich in mineral resources and fertile farm soil, and it is fortunate to have a warm climate. It also has extensive coastlines thanks to it being an island nation. Rivers flow from far within the islands. It's strategic location next to shipping lanes have helped shape the country's economic growth over the years.

The three leading industries in Rhodesia are the manufacturing of arms, metal works, and tourism.

Veridian Armed Forces

The current Veridian Armed Forces was formerly known as the Rhodesian Armed Forces, having absorbed it and the Genoshan Armed Forces.

The President holds the title of commander-in-chief of the nation's armed forces and appoints its leaders, the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Veridian Empire's Department of Defense administers the armed forces, including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.

The Army is more seen as the National Guard tasked with defending the homeland. The Navy and Marines handle all aspects of leading military invasions and war. The Air Force is primarily responsible for air-superiority and logistics via air transport. The Marines are highly mobile and well equipped. It is currently said that the Marines is bigger than the Army itself.

All four branches each have a highest ranking service member who oversee the day to day activities and other major events that require their attention. The Marines have "General of the Marines," Air Force the "Marshal of the Air Force," Navy the "Grand Admiral," and the Army the "General of the Army."

The budget is currently $108.8 billion at 6.0% of the GDP.

Veridian Aeronautical and Space Administration

0.5% of the nation's total GDP is dedicated to the nation's space program. 9.07 billion Rhodes is the 2016 yearly amount towards the VASA budget. 5.15 billion of the 9.07 is strictly for space exploration and rocketry. The remaining funds are dedicated to infrastructure, security,and hosting various competitions for colleges and research groups to compete in to win a grant. Currently the administration is basing their headquarters and launch complex on the outskirts of Cape Hope.

Society

Women

Women were a cornerstone of the Fascist social policy. They, however, eradicated the feminist movement and instilled their own set of ideals in line with their policies. The party advocated a strong egalitarian society in which the Veridian woman would recognize that her "world is also his world, and both must strive to better themselves" Soon after the seizure of power and the formation of the Veridian Empire, feminist groups were shut down or incorporated into the National Women's Organization. This organisation coordinated groups throughout the country to promote independence, motherhood, household activities, and fitness. Courses were offered on child-rearing, sewing, cooking, and bodybuilding, with a heavy emphasis on steroids. The League published the Woman's World. Despite some propaganda aspects, it was predominantly an ordinary woman's magazine.

Women were encouraged to stay in the workforce, and the creation of large families was promoted through a propaganda campaign. Large families received subsidies to help with their utilities, school fees, and household expenses. Though the measures led to increases in the birth rate, the number of families having four or more children increased by three percent. It was believed that removing women from the workforce did not have the intended effect of freeing up jobs for men. Fascist philosophy promoted large numbers of women being hired to work in munitions factories in the military build-up. The fascist regime encouraged women to seek higher education. The Fascist leaders hold views that engaging in academics and careerism would only "promote the betterment of offspring."

Women were expected to be strong and healthy. The study of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs were vital in promoting fitness. Athletic women who maintained a strong body, mind, and bore strong children are considered ideal. Organisations were created for the indoctrination of fascist values. Membership in the Youth Scouts became compulsory for all children over the age of ten. The Youth Scouts was accepting of young women age 10 to 18. The activities focused on physical education with activities such as running, long jumping, somersaulting, tightrope walking, marching, and swimming, in addition to all the normal military-esque activities associated with the Youth.

The Veridian Empire promotes a liberal code of conduct regarding sexual matters, and is sympathetic to women who bore children out of wedlock. Children born out of wedlock, if not desired by the woman, are instated into the Veridian Care of the Future. A child-caring organization that provided schooling and housing of the child until the age of 10, which they are then taken care of by the Youth Scouts. Existing laws banning abortion except for medical reasons were strictly enforced by the Fascist regime in order to promote the birth-rate.

Youth Scouts

The Youth Scouts, often abbreviated as YS, is the youth organisation of the Fascist Party in Veridia. Its origins date back in 2002. From 2002 until 2015, it was a fairly popular youth organisation in the former Rhodesia and partially a paramilitary organisation. It never reached mainstream popularity until the rise of the Fascist Party, and formation of the Veridian Empire. It is consituted of male and female youth ages 10 to 18 years. Membership is considered mandatory.

The members of the Youth Scouts are viewed as future "Veridian Models of Society" and are indoctrinated into Nationalist Ideals. One aim was to instill the motivation that would enable its members as soldiers, to fight faithfully for the Veridian Empire. There was more emphasis on physical and military training than on academic study. The Youth also has the responsibility of overseeing the physical fitness development programs provided to the Veridian youth. For example, many activities closely resembled military training, with weapons training, assault course circuits and basic tactics. Some cruelty by the older boys toward the younger ones was tolerated and even encouraged, since it was believed this would weed out the unfit and harden the rest. Members wore uniforms very much like that of the Marines, with similar ranks and insignia.

The Youth is organised into local cells on a community level. Such cells had weekly meetings at which various Fascist doctrines were taught by adult leaders. Regional leaders typically organised rallies and field exercises in which several dozen Youth Scout cells would participate. The largest gathering usually took place annually, at Cape Hope, where members from all over Veridia would converge for the annual Founding Day.

The Youth maintains training academies comparable to preparatory schools, which were designed to nurture future Veridian leaders, and only the most devoted and intelligent members could expect to attend.

The Youth also maintains several corps designed to develop future officers for the Armed forces. The corps offered specialist pre-training for each of the specific arms for which the member was ultimately destined. The Marine Youth Scouts (Marine-YS), for example, was the largest such corps and served as a auxiliary to the Marines.

Another branch of the Youth Scouts is the Veridian Worker Youth – VWY. This organisation within the Youth was a training ground for future labor leaders and technicians.

Ethnicity

The Veridian Empire enjoys a rather diverse population of different species and races. Although few members in high positions of government are not human.

Fedilea are sentient species of felines, or cats. The majority of Fedilea on the islands are related to Cheetahs, Leopards, and Jaguars. They were natives who settled in one location and often expanded that settlement. They would typically build mud brick structures akin to what the ancient Egyptians built. The variation of Fedilea range from Cheetahs, Jaguars, and even Pumas. This variation goes the same for the different statures in height. The body types are more lean or slightly muscled more than humans, but only in minuscule differences.
