The XX VS-Besatzungskorps (20th VS-Occupation Corps) is a corps-sized military formation of the Rotgeheiman Verteidigungsstaffel that is responsible for occupying captured territory during times of war. It is made up of currently two divisions that total around 40,000 troops and is commanded by Generalleutnant Angela Güstrower.
Background
These divisions are tasked with heading into an area after the combat has concluded, securing the area, and enforcing the rules and laws of Rotgeheim in the civilian areas. The divisions are equipped just as strong as regular Panzergrenadier divisions, although they usually carry multiple regiments of armored troops as a scare factor. Another difference between regular divisions and occupation divisions is the complement of military police; other divisions in the Verteidigungsstaffel normally come equipped with a battalion of military police, but occupation divisions have a regiment-sized complement.
Because the civilian populations of conquered areas are known to be hostile to occupying forces, the troops in occupation divisions are trained to quickly put down any organized or unorganized insubordination towards Rotgeheiman troops. The occupation troops follow a looser set engagement rules in order to more efficiently deal with local insurrectionist activities.
The XX VS-Besatzungskorps was created in late 1914 during the Northern Territory War to address the possibility of occupying a conquered Fuerstenburg.
