San Isicio, officially the Socialist Republic of San Isicio (Spanish: República Socialista de San Isicio), is an island country in Caribbean located between Cuba and Haïti.
The country covers an area of 5,322 square kilometres and consists of the island San Isicio. The island is divided into 5 municipalities which are subject to the government in Cuidad de San Isicio.
The island was discovered by Miguel Della Gracias, a Spanish-languaged explorer in service of England, in 1672. He named the island after Hesychius of Cazorla, also known as Isicio, a saint from the 1st century. The island remained uninhabited untill 1744 when it was claimed and colonized by the British Empire. The island was a popular destination for spanish and portuguese-languaged immigrants which forced the colonial government to accept Spanish and Portuguese as languages on the island. San Isicio became independent marxist-leninist single-party republic in 1955 after unrest followed by a coup by the Communist Party of San Isicio. The country's economy is dependent from tourism and the archicultural sector, with an emphasis on cacao and sugar.
San Isicio is known for it's legal prostitution and legal softdrugs consumption, making the island a famous tourist attraction. It's also known for it's protected rainforest in the north-east of the country.
