The United States of Asiatic Island Nations was created upon the great skills of the Morado Clan. Under the leadership of Grand Island King Aaron his progeny became leaders of all 1700 princes in numerous principalities in the area. Upon their own legislation they formed the United States of Asiatic Island Nations with the Nations Capital at the port city of Eleison. Because of good fortune most of their land was on the continent. The territory is divided into federal core territories and the hinterlands of the dominion. The different princes owing to many marriages have unclaimed territory stretching the Laurentian Sea where they have been to many trips to see Dragons. The Core Territory is made up of the large Elysian peninsula and bounded by the 120W line - here industry and the main cultural and political centres are located with also approximately 80% of the population. The Dominion Territory including several southern islands) is bounded on the east by the 110W line and the north by the Great Lake Elysia and it's tributaries. North of that is the great Mountain Range of Sierra Proxima with it's 100,000 lakes - until present unclaimed territory of the state due to more pressing social development concerns at home. The weather is temperate and cool at the mainland, but the Elysian Islands are peculiarly tropical despite its northern location, thanks to a strong tropical trade wind from the southern continents. A true progressive state - the country has free universal healthcare, gauranteed minimum income, free public education, free daycare, 36 months paid maternity leave, rehabilitation centres in place of prisons, legalised therapeutic drugs, and government sponsored paid public holidays. UNIAS is also blessed in natural resources - the region of Elysia is awash in hydrocarbons and is intensely devoted to researching nuclear fission and space travel. Strong and friendly relations exist with its neighbours particularly Sydonia.

The country is a Federal Republic composed of autonomous federated states, with representatives being elected from respective states and in the federation. Legislation is controlled by an elected council of Elysians vetted by the President. The President as the Altum-Praesidio has strong executive powers and uniquely has absolute oversight in public matters including public and private surveillance. All citizens 17 and above are required to vote. There are three major parties, the "Midgardians", "Humanae Vitae", and the "Partido Real". The Midgardians platform includes nation wide military training, excellence in sports and scientific efforts. Huamanae Vitae concentrates on social welfare, art funding, culture, politics, diplomacy, and foreign affairs. Partidao Real focuses on internal unity of the country and strengthening of interal dominoins and incorporation of territory.

UNAIS is a cosmopolitan country composed of many races. The largest race is comprises humans with around 50% of the population, the native Midgardians comprise 30% of the population and the mixed human-midgardian race comprises 15%, 5% include other races such as Sydonians and Marpans.

Only recently recognised as a full member of the Eastern Pacific community it seeks peaceful relations and trade with all interested nations.

Climate / Location

UNAIS is located at the northwestern most continent of the Eastern Pacific Region. On this continent the country lies on the western lower tip o the continents tip. On the est is the Nationnation of Marpa on the north is the lands of 'New Constantionple" peoples, and to the east is the hinterlands. It's closest southern neighbour is Sydona. The country is composed of 8 regions grouped into two territories. It is divided into two main territories - the core territory and the dominion territory. The core territory is the homelands of the Midgardians, where they are a majority - and includes the regions of Numinor (capital: Highgarden), Azeroth (capital: Azeroth), Thyferra (capital: White Keep), Aeroth (national capital: Eleison), and Aercor (Elysium). The dominion territories are the homelands of the humans and are composed of 3 regions - Sutherland (capital: Blackrock), Columbia (capital: Lake Elysia City), and Heighton (capital: Hartonburg).

Nuimnor enjoys temperate weather and long cool summers. It has a dense northern forest and rocky plans on it's south. It has two islands - Aestral and Forythsr both are holiday destinations for both Elysians and citizens of Marpa. Azeroth is a largest region among the Midgaridan homelands and enjoys a temperate climate with long hot summers. It has an extensive river system and numerous lakes. It shares a large forest boundary with Numinor and Thyferra at its eastern borders. Plenty of fine sand white beaches are located in it's protected coasts facing the mainland; while it's southern island boundary is composed of volcanic basalt rock formations. Thyferrra is a temperate climate area with a dense forest vegetation throughout it's territory. This region is also home to the tallest mountain peak in the territory - the Mountain of Valkyrie. Due to the forest vegetation Thyferra is cool but humid. Aercor is the region composed of all islands, where the beaches are pristine and uniquely enjoy a tropical climate year round. The capital region Aeroth is an ecological wonder of river systems, bio-landscaped plains, and contains 50% of all the population of the territory. Sutherland due to no barriers on it's north is mostly permafrost except for it's western boundary with Aeroth which has tundra and its boundary with Lake Elysia which is mostly shielded from the cold spell. Columbia is shileded by Lake Elysia and the extensive mountain range beyond north of it. Here large plains dominate the landscape with undulating hills to the south. Columnbia includes about 18 large islands that form the Columbian Island Chain known for it's annual 'High Seas Tribunal Challenge'. Heighton is the most populated region of the human homelands and is home to most industry. The region is hilly and enjoys a temperate climate. About 6 Islands form a separate Island Chain in Heighton called the Achilles Chain.

The maritime international boundary with Marpa was resolved through the Marpa-USAIN Treaty Line and the southern maritime boundary was tentatively agreed through the Galveston-Gaines Treaty Line with Sydonia and Prussia through the extensive efforts of the mixed human-Midgardian renown diplomat Michael Galveston-Gaines.

Economy & Industry

The UNAIS is a transitional economy focusing on tourism, information technology, data processing, and energy production. It's unique research focuses on nuclear fusion and space travel. The healthcare industry of the core territories are a wonder of biomedical technology and research. The mines of the dominion territory churn out more presidio ore than any other continent - a key component in gravity defying delta starships engines manufactured by the Elysian Space Continuum. Tourism is a backbone of and major contributor to employment, with strongest centers at Aercor, Numinor, and Columbia. The economy is divided into 40% from the dominion territory and 60% from the core territory. The military is concentrated in Sutherland and is that region's main economic contribution. Aerospace is concentrated in Aeroth. Healthcare research is concentrated Azeroth. Industrial mechanics is centred at Heighton. Tourism is mainly in Columbia and Aercor.

Government

The United States of Asiatic Island Nations is a federatoin of united island nations that are given high autonomy in all matters except foreign relations, environment, culture, and military. All other matters are given subsidiarity to the regions. The heavily human populated regions follow written constitutions while the majority Midgardian populations follow the Midgardian Law. All government leadership except the President is elected by regional representation. The President and regoinal representatives are elected at large.

In the UNAIS federalist system, citizens are subject to three levels of government: federal, regional, and local. The local government's duties are commonly split between county and municipal governments. In almost all cases, executive and legislative officials are elected by a plurality vote of citizens by district. Ranked voting is practiced in all elections, with election season a well organised and looked-up to event.

The federal government is composed of three branches:

• Legislative: The Ductor Legibus Atrium, is a court of high representatives from each region, either alloted by population ratio or by historical precedence and voted into position by voting at large. They also take up legislation offered by the Praesidio Concilium and Elysian Concilium. It makes federal law, declares war, approves treaties, has the power of the purse, and has the power of impeachment, by which it can remove sitting members of the government.

• Executive: The Altum-Praesidio is President and commander-in-chief of the military, can veto legislative bills before they become law (subject to Ductor Legibus Atrium override), and appoints the members of the Elysian High Council (subject to Praesidio Concilium approval) and other officers, who administer and enforce federal laws and policies.

• Judicial: The justice system is headed by the Altum-Justitia and is equal to the Altum-Praesidio when it comes to interpretation of the law - as they are an even number all judgements must be unanimously approved by both. Supreme Court and lower federal courts, whose judges are appointed by the President with Ductor Legibus Atrium approval, interpret laws and overturn those they find erroneous.

Three Praesidios for each region is elected, except for Aeroth with 5 and Heighton with 4, into the Praesidio Concilium and the Elysian Concilium representatives are voted by population ratio. The Altum-Praesidio has absolute oversight on surveillance matters.

To pass a bill, it must pass both Conciliums with at least a three-fifths vote. If the Altum-Praesidio vetoes the bill or cannot complete the process, the bill must pass with at least a four-fifths of the vote. Repealing of a law has the same procedure.

The Judicial system is there to ensure that recently enacted laws do not conflict with previously enforced ones. Each territory has their own respective judicial system, but they all follow a unified set of laws established by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is a court of 8 persons representing each current region in the UNAIS.

Elysian Gaurd

The Altum-Praesidio holds the title of commander-in-chief of the nation's armed forces and appoints its leaders, the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The UNAIS's Department of Defense administers the armed forces, including the Army (Praesidio), Navy (Lancea), Marine Corps (Lancea Bona}, and Air Force (Arma). The armed forces of the UNAIS numbers professinal 350,000 soldiers and 500,000 reserves; The Elysian Guard armies are lead by 14 Elysian High Gaurd (6 Male Midgaridans, 6 Male Humans, 2 Male Mixed Human-Midgardian).

The Army is divided into a professional Expeditionary Force and a professional National Guard tasked with defending the homeland. The Navy and Marines handle all aspects of frontline expeditionary military activity. The Air Force is primarily responsible for air-superiority and logistics via air transport.

All four branches each have a highest ranking service member who oversee the day to day activities and other major events that require their attention. The Marines have "Bona Lancea Consularis" Air Force the "Arma Consularis", the Navy the "Lancea Consularis" and the Army the "Praesidio Consularis"

The budget is currently AID9.84 billion (US$ 78.72B) or 8.0% of the GDP. The Elysian Gaurd is renown for its Accipitris stealth fighter aircraft which is the only aircraft which can do prolonged subspace tactical missions; it's Tumescen Amphibious Tank which also doubles as a short-range submarine and carries Aquilam neutron missiles.

Ethnicity and Culture

The UNAIS is a cosmopolitan society that enjoys a good diverse population of different species and races. Most humans are adherents to the Catholic Faith while a sizeable number of Midgardians believe the Catholic God as their God entity. The Elysians love to frolick and are very attuned to nature. The sizeable number of museums and universities make UNAIS a destination for education tourism. The 30 an hour work week and paid public holidays make Elysians one of the most stress free citizens in the East Pacific.
