The GA Secretariat, or GenSec (called Secretariat's Council during initial discussions), is a legal body under the aegis of the WA General Assembly to help the moderator staff dispense rulings on contested proposals before the GA. It is composed of appointed volunteer players -- akin to the volunteers who already help edit issues and mentor roleplayers -- along with moderators serving in a supervisory role. The hope is that GenSec will assist in resolving issues with the mods' disengagement with forum drafting, resulting in allegedly uninformed and controversial rulings.
The GA Secretariat is not to be confused with the Secretariat, the RP codename for the mods in the WA.

Role of the 'Secretary-General'
During initial discussions about the council's makeup, it was suggested that one or more members be elected rather than appointed, with some proposing that a "WA Secretary-General" elected during an April Fools' Day prank be part of the Secretariat. Admins have been warm to opening new elections for a secretary-general, but it is not currently known what role if any the winner will play.
