Joseph Earnest Corbell (born May 15, 1969) is the first President of the Congress of Nations. Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom (present day England), he is the first chief executive of the Congress of Nations. He grew up in an industrious and politically active family and graduated from Oxford University with a degree in International law where he practiced locally in London and internationally in Geneva, Switzerland. After the Gulf Empire rose to power, he got a legal job in the Department of State and soon worked his way up to Deputy Director, getting appointed Minister of State in 2012 and reappointed in 2013. He and his predecessor are the only two people to serve more than one year as Minister of State. In early 2014, he resigned from his position for appointment to the Congress of Nations and in March 2014, he was elected as President of the Congress of Nations. Since his election, his main job has been to keep his position relevant by appointing cabinet members and try to be active.

Early Life and Education

Joseph was born on May 15, 1969 in the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in what used to be the United Kingdom (now the Province of England). Joseph's father was a MP for the Parliament of the United Kingdom throughout most of Joseph's life and his mother was an accomplished lawyer and university professor. Joseph attended a local preparatory school and then moved off to the University of Oxford to study law where he graduated with a degree in law in 1994 with a specialty in international law.

Career

Law Practice

Corbell originally wanted to be a judge but he decided against that and instead decided to become an international lawyer so he worked for an international law firm in London that specialized in cases of international crime and such. In 2000, he was given an opportunity to serve as a legal counsel in Geneva for the treaty negotiation processes that were occurring there. He returned to London in 2007 after the European Union ended all diplomatic talks in Geneva.

Work in Foreign Affairs

In 2009, Joseph joined the Gulf Imperial Department of State and began to work up in its ranks with his knowledge of international law and customs. He went on to serve a deputy director of one of the State Department's agencies and he was involved in the signing of the treaty between the United States and Gulf Empire in 2010

Imperial Minister of State

In 2012, after Kirk Green served a record of two years as Minister of State, Chancellor Jack Holland appointed Joseph Corbell as Minister of State, from his former position as deputy director of the Department of State. As Minister, he worked on increasing the Gulf Empire's diplomatic might while helping to fullfill their militaristic aims as well. He started and established an embassy program for nations to establish embassies in the Gulf Empire and he also increased the Gulf Empire's outreach to other nations. Joseph Corbell was probably most credited for bringing the Gulf Empire out of an isolationist militaristic stance to a more global involvement period. In 2013, he was awarded a second term by the Chancellor and he continued to extend his reach far beyond the Gulf Empire.

Congress of Nations Career

In early 2014, as it became evident that the Congress of Nations Charter was going to be ratified, Joseph Corbell was advised to resign as Minister of State so he could serve either as a representative in the International Senate or possibly even be President. He resigned in February of 2014 and began to campaign in the Congress of Nations to get his position. Meanwhile, an agreement had already been made between the Gulf Empire, Texas, and Rizealand, that Rizealand would control the legislature and the Gulf Empire could control the executive so after the first session of the Congress of Nations convened, Joseph E. Corbell was elected unopposed as the President.

President of the CON

Corbell's role has, for the present, been a ceremonial one due to the lack of action in the CON, but he has so far successfully appointed an executive cabinet and is expected to give a State of the Congress address in March
