History

The Aloian Peninsula in the continent of Olympia was known to the ancient Greeks and Romans as the province of Haloina. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the province split into many rival city states, until Queen Anne the Great United the citystates into one Kingdom of Aloia on January 10, 1497.

In 1979, harsh conditions led the religious Aloian people to believe God was leading them out of Olympia. They moved to the continent of Mnemosyne, to the homeland of the Genoli people. Aloia and Genolia united in November of 1979, with the Genolian city of Ottawa and the Aloian city of San Francisco as the twin capitals.

In 1999, a large group of ethnic Aloians (known as Peninsulars) returned to their homeland in the Aloian peninsula and established five states, which together were named Talos, in honor of the great Aloian city of Talos Eri.

In 2006, Queen Marina's son, Louis, and the government of the five Talosian states declared independence. This crisis was resolved when Queen Marina agreed to allow the five states to recognize Louis as their monarch, if they remained within the (then) Imperial Union.

In 2014, a popular referendum in Genolia ended the time of Unification, with Genolians choosing overwhelmingly (79% for to 21% against) independence. This dissolved the Imperial Union, with Aloia and Genolia becoming separate nations for the first time in 34 years.
