Corona Beach is a Schuttean colony located in Southern Malibu Islands. A resort community comprising a narrow strip of land along the eastern shore of Canis Island, it is actually a wholly owned subsidiary of Schutte Enterprises, Inc., Mrs. Schutte's private company.
History
In 1996, a bunch of drunken idiots on a tropical cruise decided to stray during a stop in Southern Malibu Islands. Trying to get a better view of Empress Jhessan's private resort in the region, they steered their innertubes toward her island, only to pass out and find themselves washed ashore on neighboring Canis Island the next morning, by which time the cruise line had departed. They took shelter in a Catholic mission and trekked to Bears Armed's Halfway Islands for supplies before deciding, fuck it, why go back to a pit like SchutteGod when they were literally lost in paradise? Setting up camp on their new shore, they began writing to loved ones back in their homeland -- upon which the Schuttean government soon got wind of the new settlement, and Mrs. Schutte's company bought the shoreline at a rock-bottom price. A string of resorts, all owned by Mrs. Schutte, soon opened on the beach, and a town was built to the south for resort employees. A retirement community was opened in the town, now called Corona Beach City, and since senior citizens always vote in droves, they were able to take over the city government. An incorporation plan for Corona Beach City was drawn up in 2001, and the city council, fed up with the rowdy party crowd that the resorts started to attract (particularly during Spring Break), set the city limits just outside the resorts, shutting them out. Additionally the city banned drinking inside city limits, and closed their section of the beach to resort guests and residents.
Politics
Corona Beach is governed by Schutte Enterprises, which has direct control over the resorts and uses private security to enforce the law, including ordinances passed by the Corona Beach City government. Armed vessels from Mrs. Schutte's private fleet act as the colony's coast guard.
