The Second Kilkenny Ministry began after the conclusion of the 2021 Federal Election and the ensuing coalition agreement between the National Progressives and the Labor Party. In August of 2022, the National Progressives increased their sum of seats to 452 which exceeded the requirement to govern independently as a majority government. Thus, the coalition was ended and the National Progressive government of Jacob Kilkenny gained the access to all cabinet portfolios.
