The Republic of Tivot, more commonly referred to simply as Tivot, is a small, prosperous nation that shares a single border with Caltharus on the continent Aurora. It is the northernmost nation on the continent of Aurora, and was part of Salovia for centuries, gaining independence immediately after The Auroran Imperial War following an independence referendum in 1975. It has maintained peaceful relations with the former Salovian territories of Baykalia, Kostromastan, Imperial Fandom, and Tuvaltastan. The nation, with a Nominal GDP per capita of $37,361, has an estimated population of 22,581,000. The nation is located at the tip of the Great Auroran Peninsula, and is a major port for shippings directed towards Gondwana and Atlantia. Tivot also has three outlying islands, Alirus Isle to the northeast, Eternium Isle to the northwest, and Iluvikov Island to the west, all of which have been designated as nature preserves. Collectively, the three islands are referred to as the Tivot Outlying Preserves (TOPs). Along with the TOPs, Tivot also owns the port city of Triklov Port, located on the southeastern corner of the Justelvardic island of Isekaiou, given to Salovia to be part of the Tivotian province by Great Morstaybishlia as reparations for occupying Tivot during the Great War. The capital Tarov and its metropolitan area hold almost the entire population of the mainland at over 22 million people, due to lack of practical usable space elsewhere, and also local superstitions. The only other separate populations are the settlement of Per, home to a population of approximately 237,200 Human-Peregrin hybrids, and the previously-mentioned Port Triklov, hosting a population of 332,800. This near-total concentration of the population results in the titles Tivot and Tarov to be occasionally used interchangeably, as well as the rare reference to Tivot as a city-state.

Tivot comes from the ancient word "tivo," which originates from the dead language of the ancient Kostuvians. "Tivo" translates to "fun" in Codexian, and "Vn" (Pronounced Vun) in Altuvi.
+
"Tivot" is an codexified word that traces its origins to the words "tyvl" and "virlot" which originate from the dead language of the Ancient Kostuvians. "Tyvl" translates to "crater" in Codexian, a reference to the ancient meteor crater that the city Tarov proper resides within, while "virlot" translates to "city" in Codexian. "Tarov" is also believed to share the same origins.

Beginnings of Tuvaltastan
+
As a Salovian Province
After the horrors of the Kostuvastan Civil War, Tuvaltastan was the first nation to form out of the ashes. It was officially independent on the day March 17th, 2005. During the first year of its existance, it took a year to determine the constitution of Tuvaltastan. The first administration went into office in the year 2006, and came out of office in 2008. Even with the first administration, there were issues in making a completely new nation from the ground up. Entire institutions had to be established, the destroyed infrastructure had to be replaced, and the food sources that were nearly depleted had to be restored. The aforementioned issues were the focus of the first administration, and were relatively successful. The next two successive administrations added to the accomplishments of the first administration (see List of Administrations of Tuvaltastan for more info).
+
First taken in 876 AD after the Battle of ____, Tivot had always been located on the political peripheral of Salovian politics, and since 1132 AD had been a semi-autonomous province of the nation. This self-sufficiency and relative freedom over its own affairs allowed the nation to chart its own course, uniquely separate from the other regions of Salovia.

Modern-Day Tuvaltastan
+
Throughout its history, Tivot's capital Tarov served as a focal point for Salovians to travel to and from Salovian colonies.
The current administration is currently attempting to establish peaceful relations with both Kostromastan and Baykalia. The administration's ultimate goal, however, is to connect itself to other nations outside of former Kostuvastan, especially within Aurora.
+

The Kost-Tuva War (2009-2010)
+
Departure from Salovia
This war was primarily between Tuvaltastan and Kostromastan, and lasted 11 months before ending on a peace treaty that ended the war. It was catalyzed by many skirmishes between Kostro and Tuvalt civilians, and eventually politicians in Tuvaltastan called for a war. The Hall approved of the war, and the war killed approximately 12,000 Tuvalts and 11,000 Kostros, as well as 1,000 Baykals, as Baykalia had been in the war, but left after a month.
+
After The Auroran Imperial War, the Tivotian people saw that the empire which they relied on so heavily for protection was weakened militarily, and as such the Tivotian province announced their intent to execute an independence referendum. They were established on January 24th, 1976. Since then, Tivot has shot ahead of its Salovian counterparts economically and politically. In some respects, Tivot is also considered by some to be the largest city-state in the world by land area, and the area surrounding Tarov is very diverse, with large mountains to the south and east, an unusually steep volcanic mountain making up the entirety of Alirus Isle, a deep ravine on Eternium Isle, as well as a large cliff in the northern part of the Tivotian mainland, called Ver's Northern Wall. Due to this diversity, 75% of Tivot's land area has been designated as a nature reserve, except for Tarov and its surrounding areas, the city of Per, and Port Triklov.

The Tuva-Avut War (2011-Present)
+
Beginnings of Tivot
Following the Colonialist mindset of their Kostuv predecessors, the Tuvalt Government is currently attempting to take over a large island in the Southwest Pacific Ocean. The natives of the island use guerrilla war tactics against the Tuvalt military, who have never stepped foot on the Avut Island. The native Avut have been successful at keeping the Tuvalt Government in the northern half of the island.
+
Unlike its war-torn counterparts, Tivot has been in a state of relative peace since The Auroran Imperial War. Due to this, it has managed to advance in technology at a faster pace than the rest of former Salovia. Such advances include the development of cultured meats which has resulted in a rapid decrease in meat imports from other countries, engineering techniques to allow for taller, thinner skyscrapers, and mail delivery via drones. A rapid-speed tunnel network has also been proposed to connect Tarov to other nations' major cities.
 +

 +
Modern-Day Tivot
 +
Tivot has inserted itself into the global economy, emerging as a major shipping and trade hub. The nation makes the majority of its wealth from tourism, trade, its numerous financial businesses, and its numerous coastal ports within Tarov and Port Triklov, which have a comparatively low tax rate. It also holds one of the world's largest stock markets. The nation has also solidified a place of importance in the United Nations of the Auroran Continent as the host to one of the headquarters of the Auroran Continental Bank.

The electoral process for each position requires each candidate to take part in a simulation that focuses on the issues and everyday duties of the position each candidate is running for. As well as the simulation, a popular vote will take place. Each candidate's performance on the simulation will be scored. The candidates' score and their votes will be combined into an average, and whichever candidate has the highest average wins the election.

Neutrality
Neutrality
Tuvaltastan claims to be a neutral nation towards all but Kostromastan and Baykalia. This is likely to change, due to politicians vying for a more friendly attitude towards the other territories of former Kostuvastan.
+
The country has publicly expressed its eagerness to become a major center of trade, culture, and finances, and as such has stayed strictly neutral in regards to international politics. It has, however, shown itself to be very politically close to nations like the United Kingdom, Tuvaltastan, and Emberwood Coast.

Food
Food
Traditional cuisine of Tuvaltastan is few and far between, due to its short life as a nation so far. However, one meal exists that has prominent meaning: Cheese Rice. Its prominent meaning stems from the terrible conditions that ensued during the Kostuvastan Civil War, and most food being destroyed in the Agricultural Bombing Campaigns of 1999. The only sources of food that had survived the bombings were hard cheeses and dried rice grains. For the remainder of the Civil War, the Tuvalts survived by eating cheese rice, and now, on every Independence day, they celebrate with a bowl of cheese rice. Another traditional food is Norgov bread, which originates from the Ancient Kostuvians that resided in the same region of Tuvaltastan. Norgov bread consists of corn meal, honey, eggs, and flour, and it is usually eaten on New Year's Day.

The nation of Tivot is mostly made up of the northernmost reaches of the Zycannes Mountains, with the most notable geographic feature being a large crater. The crater, likely the result of a meteor impact that took place around 260 million years ago, holds what is today the metropolitan area of the city of Tarov. The Tyrne River, the largest river in Tivot, begins in the peaks of the Zycannes and flows through Tarov before ultimately ending at the Caven/Morstaybishlian Sea. The non-mountainous land in Tivot is arable, yet limited. This problem was resolved by importing most of the nation's food, until a recent development in vertical farming and cultured meat production allowed for the industries to become commercially viable, enabling Tivot to reduce its reliance on foodstuff imports.

Kings of Imperial Kostuvastan were known to decorate their palaces with platinum, and the current Tuva-avut war is being fought over a large deposit of platinum on the Avut Isle.

Etymology

"Tivot" is an codexified word that traces its origins to the words "tyvl" and "virlot" which originate from the dead language of the Ancient Kostuvians. "Tyvl" translates to "crater" in Codexian, a reference to the ancient meteor crater that the city Tarov proper resides within, while "virlot" translates to "city" in Codexian. "Tarov" is also believed to share the same origins.

History

Pre-Salovian Era

(I will come up with a better name for this section later, for now this is a placeholder)

As a Salovian Province

First taken in 876 AD after the Battle of ____, Tivot had always been located on the political peripheral of Salovian politics, and since 1132 AD had been a semi-autonomous province of the nation. This self-sufficiency and relative freedom over its own affairs allowed the nation to chart its own course, uniquely separate from the other regions of Salovia.

Throughout its history, Tivot's capital Tarov served as a focal point for Salovians to travel to and from Salovian colonies.

Departure from Salovia

Beginnings of Tivot

Unlike its war-torn counterparts, Tivot has been in a state of relative peace since The Auroran Imperial War. Due to this, it has managed to advance in technology at a faster pace than the rest of former Salovia. Such advances include the development of cultured meats which has resulted in a rapid decrease in meat imports from other countries, engineering techniques to allow for taller, thinner skyscrapers, and mail delivery via drones. A rapid-speed tunnel network has also been proposed to connect Tarov to other nations' major cities.

Modern-Day Tivot

Tivot has inserted itself into the global economy, emerging as a major shipping and trade hub. The nation makes the majority of its wealth from tourism, trade, its numerous financial businesses, and its numerous coastal ports within Tarov and Port Triklov, which have a comparatively low tax rate. It also holds one of the world's largest stock markets. The nation has also solidified a place of importance in the United Nations of the Auroran Continent as the host to one of the headquarters of the Auroran Continental Bank.

Foreign Policy

The city of Tarov is host to numerous financial centers, two large ports, and is a major trade hub and tax haven. Along with this, it is host to a headquarters of the Auroran Continental Bank, which monitors and maintains the stability of the Kirib. Tivot also holds one of the largest numbers of merchant ships registered under it, with a total of 7,982 ships, 3,632 of which are bulk carrier ships, another 2,314 container ships, and another 1,561 oil tankers. The remaining 2,789 primarily consist of general cargo and various private ships.

Trade

Tivot is part of the United Nations of the Auroran Continent, which has established a continent-wide trade agreement and non-aggression pact. Through efforts of the Loctov administration, Tivot has also established free trade agreements with numerous nations and international organizations outside of Aurora, including the Vekaiyun Union, the SHACOG, and the Pax Caliphate.

Neutrality

The country has publicly expressed its eagerness to become a major center of trade, culture, and finances, and as such has stayed strictly neutral in regards to international politics. It has, however, shown itself to be very politically close to nations like the United Kingdom, Tuvaltastan, and Emberwood Coast.

Immigration

Tivot has developed a nondiscriminatory immigration policy, which, although granting the majority of immigrants entrance into the nation, performs very extensive background checks on those that wish to enter.

Military

There is no military in Tivot, meaning the nation relies on its neighbors for protection. However, the city of Tarov maintains a law enforcement department to curb crime.
