Brooks County is a county located in the Cascadian state of Alaska. As of the 2014 census, the population was 758,960. Its county seat is Jaketon. Brooks County was established and organized in 2008. It is named for the Brooks Mountian Range, of which is rests in a large valley of it.

The county is part of the Jaketon–Riverside, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Brooks County is located on the plains of valley in the central part of the state. The county is bounded on the north by Tillmans Creek, on the and on the east by the Yukon River. The northwestern part of the county is largely mountains and contains part of Gates of the Arctic National Park.

Jaketon

Jaketon is the largest and oldest city in Brooks County with a population of 475,976. There are many points of interest such as the Downtown Entertainment District, Art Museum of Alaska, and federal buildings. The Alaska State University System operates its largest educational institution in the state, the Jaketon Campus, in the county with 47,384 students.

Easton

Easton is the second largest city in Brooks County with a population of 95,755.
