Equipment and Budget
+
The Axdel Armed Forces serves as the military of Axdel, tasked with defence of the country, global peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, and to promote the wider interests of the nation. It is a highly capable force, outfitted with the latest technological innovations available, and utilising renown training methods. A modernisation scheme implemented in 2004 is currently in operation to replace older units whilst also reducing the cost of future maintenance. Due to this, the greatest fraction of the military budget of ♅47bn ($40.9bn) is going towards the replacement/upgrading of older equipment.

Overview
+
General Equipment
The Axdel Armed Forces is quite well equipped, outfitted with a combination of pre-1996 Norogradian weaponry and modern Axdelian technology at an approximate ratio of 1:2 respectively. The armed forces enjoy a relatively large budget of A♅106bn, which is currently being utilised to replace the outdated Norogradian units of every department. The current goal is to have a 1:9 respective distribution of technology, predicted to be completed by the late 2020's, after which the military budget will subside until further development is required.

The Axdelian Army receives the 2nd largest departmental budget overall (excluding ANSA) and has the highest ratio of outdated Norogradian weaponry to modern weaponry. It's relatively low budget priority is due to the little need to update anything, notably the <s>Norogradian</s> Axdelian Defence Drome, the nations primary defence system, which remains effective and requires no modification other than digitalisation. Thus, the army is currently utilising its budget outfitting troops with the best appropriate small arms available and replacing the older Norogradian land invasion engines. Although there is little need for improvement other than digitalisation with those too, as Norograd had amassed an invasion force for a '2nd Auroran imperial war' in the early 1990's which was cut short by the civil war, thus most of the equipment remains effective today. The standard issue Rifle's are the Steyr AUG A3 and the Steyr STM 556.

Navy
The navy receives the largest share of the military budget, and like the army there was plenty of older Norogradian ships amassed for the planned '2nd Auroran imperial war'. However unlike the army, the older Norogradian vessels were deemed unfit for conflict, and as soon as Axdel became stable huge swathes of budget went towards new ship programmes. Controversially, some of the budget was leftover humanitarian aid, however no official denunciation has happened as of yet, and is not expected. The programmes have yielded significant results, with the new vessels being highly innovative and combat effective, allowing Axdel the capability to operate a blue water navy. Today the naval budget is focussed on the construction and replacement of the older Norogradian vessels. Like the army this programme is predicted to be completed in the mid 2020's.

The Axdelian Army is the principle land warfare force of the Axdel Armed Forces. The force is primarily tasked with the defence of the nation, though it is well capable of overseas deployment and is an able invasion force. It deploys the Taurus lineage of main battle tanks, the Taurus 3 being based on the Kuthernburg Cougar 2 tank though highly modified. However, the Taurus 3 proved ineffective against Xagrurgian Warrior MBT's during the Auroran-Pacific War, with neither tank being able to consistently penetrate the others armour. Thus, the Taurus 4, armed with a larger 130mm gun which has proved to be more effective against composite armour, is being rushed through development and is expected to enter service as early as 2021. Recently, the army has replaced its ageing Norogradian armoured fighting vehicles with the highly modular SV AFV, which has 6 configurations each using the same base chassis, vastly reducing complexity and maintenance costs

The Axdelian Navy is the principle sea warfare force of the Axdel Armed Forces. It consists of three fleets, the surface fleet, the sub-surface fleet, and the logistics fleet.

Army

An Axdelian Army soldier during a training exercise
