The Grasmeran Army is the army of Grasmere, formed as the first of two branches of the Grasmere Unity Guard on April 23rd, 1753.

History

The Grasmeran Army was organized under the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Grasmere, the first act of the newly formed Federal Congress of Grasmere. It primarily consisted of the former land units of the Eastern Territorial Armies, who, despite being battle-hardened, tough soldiers, were generally disorganized, and lacked proper command structure. These forces were commanded by high-ranking military officers from the former Berenson Imperial Guard, who were scholars in the art of warfare. While there were initial clashes between the officers and soldiers who were disgruntled with the new command structure, they gradually accepted their new leaders, and became an efficient and tough fighting force.

Personnel

The Grasmeran Army is composed of 40,121 enlisted personnel, and 10,248 civilians. Conscription is allowed under federal law and can be activated by either congressional action or executive order. It has not been in place since 1984, when it was used in an attempt to reduce youth crime.
