In modern-day Capitalia Republica, the nation is built on good, old-fashioned capitalism, where the 10% own 90% of the wealth, but any hard-working citizen can *absolutely* find their way to wealth. All polititions are wonderfully easily bought by businesses, and their actions all benefit these great businesses. Religion is nearly non-existant because when people realised that more money could be made from uranium mining than being a pastor, nobody was particularly interested in faith anymore. Dispite a third of the GDP being spent on the police force, 6% of deaths are due to murder. Since the civil war ended, Capitalia Republica has been entirely uninterested in military involvement of any kind, and there is no problem with internal struggle as all communists are long-dead. Capitalia Republica is interested only in internal trade, and international politics do not interest it what-so-ever.
History
From 1894 - 1964 this nation was known as Republica, and was a dirty, awful, communist state run by a bunch of authoritarian assholes. Private business was non-existant and everything was generally crap.
Eventually, in 1964, a small anti-communist resistance group formed in the south of Republica with the name Capitalia Republica. It's goal was to introduce capitalism to the nation and create a democratic state. For 13 years this group led a non-violent revoution in the south, converting much of it to a glorious, capitalist society. By the end of these 13 years, the North, had become known as Communistia Republica and declared war on the South.
The Republica Civil War, waged from 1977 to 2007 and shaped this great nation from a country of commie pussies to a strong, wealthy, capitalist state.
Before and during the Civil War, the North and South differed greatly on economic issues. The war was about capitalism, but primarily about its cultural consequences. The northern elite wanted communist pussy-ism that would change the southern capitalist way of life.
The North held many advantages over the South during the Civil War. Its population was several times that of the South, a potential source for military enlistees and civilian manpower but the North lacked the substantial number of factories and industries of the South that produced needed war materials. The South had a better transportation network, mainly highways, canals, and railroads, which could be easily used to re-supply military forces in the field. At sea, the Northern navy was more capable and dominant, while the army was better trained and better supplied. The rest of the world wrongly recognized the North as a legitimate government, allowing Northern diplomats to obtain loans and other trade concessions.
The South had may advantages, namely a multitude of manufactured goods ranging from clothing supplies to weapons and vehicles due to greeat capitalist principals. The South also had the leadership of great commanders, including Barry "I Hate Jews" Lee, Joseph "Bing Bong"Johnston, and Davey "Brickwall" Jackson.
The North suffered because a series of senior generals did not successfully exploit the few weaknesses of the South, nor did they act upon the suggestions of their evil President. Jimmy Mao finally got his desired general in Ulysses S. Grant, who had solidified the Union's control of the West in parts of the Dranalacon River Basin. Grant directed the defeat of Northen forces and strongholds and held off determined advances northward by Capitalists on several occasions before the surrender by Grant to Lee took place in 1997.
To defeat the North, the South had to achieve several goals:
1. Secure Control of the Dranalacon River to allow unimpeded movement of needed Northern goods
2. Cut off the North from international traders and smugglers
3. Take the Northen army out of action to prevent further southward attacks such as that at Gottysburg, Rennelvania, and to ease the battle losses of the South
4. Stop the North's ability to produce propaganda, goods and war materials
The North had to counter these measures with its own plans to capitalize on early victories, weakening the Southern resolve to fight; to get international recognition as a sovereign state; and to keep Northern forces from seizing Capitalian territory. The North did not accomplish its goals, and after thirty years of fighting, the great South won the war. This great revolution led to the unified nation of Capitalia Rebublica, a superb nation built off the hard-working backs of good capitalists.
