Etymology
The name "Jerkifornia" is derived from the Bigtopian word Jerkh and Fynia. Jerkh means "forest people" or "tree dwellers" while fynia is alleged to mean "refuge." So its literal translation is "Refuge of the Tree Dwellers." However, some say the name is derived from the Lilliputian word, Jerkayfunya which means "The dark land." The people there have called themselves "Jerks" or "the Forest Dwellers" due to Jerkifornia's lush forests.
