The Republic of Tivot, better known as Tivot, is a small, prosperous nation that shares a single border with Caltharus on the continent Aurora. It is the northernmost nation on the continent of Aurora, and was part of Kostuvastan for centuries, gaining independence immediately after The Auroran Imperial War following an independence referendum in 1975. It has maintained peaceful relations with the former Kostuv territories of Baykalia, Kostromastan, Imperial Fandom, and Tuvaltastan. The nation, with a Nominal GDP per capita of $32,383, has an estimated population of nearly 18,700,000. The nation is located at the tip of the Auroran Peninsula, and is a major port for shippings directed towards Gondwana and Atlantia. Tivot also has three outlying islands that have been designated as nature refuges. The capital Tarov and its metropolitan area hold the entire population, due to lack of practical usable space. This results in the titles Tivot and Tarov to be occasionally used interchangeably, as well as the common designation of Tivot as a pseudo-city-state.

Etymology

Tivot comes from the word "tivo," which originates from the dead language of Ancient Kostuvian. "Tivo" translates to "fun" in Codexian, and "فوهة" ("alburk") in Kostuvian.

History

Departure from Kostuvastan

After The Auroran Imperial War, the Tivotian people saw that the empire which they relied on so heavily was weakened militarily and economical, and as such the Tivotian province announced their intent to execute an independence referendum. They were established on January 24th, 1976. Since then, Tivot has become a booming city-state. Interestingly, Tivot is also the largest city-state in the world by land area, and the area surrounding Tarov is very diverse, with large mountains to the south, an extremely steep volcanic mountain on one of its islands, a very deep ravine on the northernmost island, as well as a truly immense cliff in the northern part of the Tivot mainland. Due to this diversity, most of Tivot has been designated as a nature reserve, except for Tarov and surrounding areas.

Beginnings of Tivot

Unlike its war-torn counterparts, Tivot has not been in a war since The Auroran Imperial War. Due to this, it was able to advance in technology quicker than the rest of former Kostuvastan. Such advances include the reducing the need for livestock through the development of cultured meats, engineering techniques to allow for taller, thinner skyscrapers, and mail delivery via drones.

Modern-Day Tivot

Tivot is a major shipping and trade hub, and makes the majority of its wealth from tourism, trade, and its numerous coastal ports within Tarov, which have a relatively low tax.
