Assigned to the palace guard, Arren Kelich quickly became the favored guard of Emperor Shein Darson. The two attended basic training together and had become acquaintances during the five year period that Shein spent with the military. Arren was assigned to the palace at Shein's request.
Arren had no choice as to what his career would be. He was one of the 2% of the Rutian population that was able to use deadly Psionics with no side effects. From the moment that he was tested as a twelve year old, his career was chosen for him. The military didn't want to give Arren up to the palace guard, but both he and Shein argued that Arren would be able to serve his country better by providing the Emperor with the best guard possible, a deadly Psion.
